    mossberg 930 home defense model

This is the shotgun i am interested in buying. I have been looking for some sort of mount that I could then attach a light to the forearm. The 930spx is a nice model but maybe out of my price range, this one i think is cheaper through my local dealers. any help/advice would will recieve my thanks.

currently on sale for @ $599.98 at your local Turners...

Picked mine up yesterday because I couldnt find the piston grip one and Choate is acutally the exact piston grip Mossberg is using I just purchase a Choate piston grip stock for less than what Turners would have sold me the piston grip model (85370) ...

I own one and I think it's one of the best auto shotties I have. I bought mine about a year and a half ago and have ran 1000+ rounds down the pipe. I have only had one feeding issue and that was due to Agilla mini shells. It won't feed them in my auto, to short I guess.

Have fun they are great shotguns!

i am sort of recoil senitive to 12g shotguns but not rifles. i want a semi auto mossberg 930, but they are a little pricey. is there a way to greatly minimize the recoil on a pump 12g, ie mossberg 500,590, or rem 870? some sort of ultra recoil reducing pad?

Once is a typo ... maybe. Twice might be an auto-correct issue. Four times?

            It's "pistol grip".

Blackhawk Stock with recoil spring.. It works fantastic on a 500 pump gun!

From experience. My winchester 1300 got worst recoil when I install a colapsable stock on; it had less recoil when it was pistol grip only no stock and I shot from the hip.

gas operated autoloaders are going to be softer shooters almost always over a pump. However, if price is a problem check out a limbsaver recoil pad. my wife can shoot 100 shells on our 930 (again, that's an autoloader) with the limbsaver on it and not even leave a bruise. The rubber pad that came with the 930 still beat her up pretty good. Put on the limbsaver and it really was amazing. I was totally impressed.

I want to know what my fellow calgunners think about shotguns against zombies? What is the effective range for 00 buckshot, or slugs?

Come on! Everyone knows that the slugs offer awesome range devastation compared to shot! Today's zombie can and do survive single and sometimes dual pellet strikes, so the close range encounter is a must if you want to really set themdown in their dirt nappy effectively with the shot in an unmodified short barrel. Your follow up shots will be nice in this Mossy and this will help when "two will do".

Any hopes of a mag extension there?

Need a new thread for ammo topic. Buckshot range is dependent on your gun, brand of ammo, etc. Best shot with a slug I personally witnessed was 225 yards. One shot and a hit on steel, I didn't believe it so I had my guy fire a second shot that also hit, this time very loudly and in the center. Figure the average shooter....slugs 100 yards.

Yes, it does add about 3/4" to 1" inch to the stock. Not sure if that is a deal breaker for you, but that's how they get it to take up so much recoil energy.

They have a slip on type and a replacement type. I have the replacement type, I would guess the slip on would add even more length to the stock.
