You'll love that Mossberg. I've had mine for sometime now. I picked mine up for $215 with a two barrel combo at Big 5 back in 97'. Never had any hiccup. It sports a 18" barrel with ghost ring sights, side saddle, and sling.

I picked mine up a few weeks ago and have been very happy with it.
Managed to run over 300 rds through it so far.
I think it's the security model. It's all black but no frills and thrills. Not bad for a spur of the moment impulse buy.

It is more than ironic...actually infuriating...that AFTER I ordered/paid for/paperwork for my 500 at the local Big 5, I came home and ordered SD ammo from one source and other accouterments from another source.

Base rate shipping..everything showed up yesterday and I still have to wait until Saturday to pick up my gun. I know this is not the 2A thread, but DAYUM.

I have a BARSKA site that I pulled off my Superblackhawk that I'll mount on the 500. Have a stock pouch, 00 buck and some 1 oz slugs. C'mon Saturday.

                Anyone DuraCoat a 500??? Pics?

Pffftttt. Big 5 Combos for $300 suck.

I got mine for $228 back in teh day.

I currently only have 2, one on permanent house gun duty with the surefire forend, the sidesaddle, with extra buck, the buttcuff with slugs, short length of pull stock etc.

The other is my duck, upland, clays game gun. Full 28” barrel for those, though sadly it has the fixed choke. I also have the black powder barrel and am looking to get either a 20” as a turkey gun barrel or a 24” for just an all around barrel.

ive had my 500 since 05 and put well over 5000 shells thru it. but be carefull with the factory forend. ive broke it 3 times. the last time i put an old 80 something 500 forend grip. it fits loose on the tube but it has lasted 700 shells whit no problem.

                            What broke, the plastic forend?

Do the tactical forends have a metal sleeve?

I've had a 500 for years and never had a problem with it. Very reliable sporting and HD weapon. Just recently decided to add a 590 to the stable... fits the same (perfectly), functions the same.
