Depends on the 870 model you have. The HD and Tactical beads are pressed on and you have to have them removed then drill and tap for a new bead. You can go with an XS Bid Dot which is designed to epoxy right over the exsisting bead. You will love that sight.

If you have a sporting model the bead is tapped so you can screw it out. You would get more info if you post the type of barrel on your weapon.

Barrel is whatever come with the standard 18.5" synthetic stock 7 shot gun. It's not the tactical version. Has a regular bead sight, grey/silver in color. Xs big dot epochs over?

I agree with Barbarossa...if you have a front bead that is screws in.
I just put a Hi-Viz fiber optic on mine before waterfowl season and I love it! Screwed right into the existing location with no problems. And it came with like 7 different light tubes (different colors and diameters) that I can easily interchange if I want to. I highly recommend it!

Your bead on that model is pressed in and to change it you would have to have it drilled out a tappped. So, yes the XS Big that glues right over it is the best fix. When you order the sight make sure to get the one for the 870 pedestal and grap a tube of Loc-tite Black Max sight adhesive. www.brownells.com is a good place to get this stuff.

the Hi-Viz is nice..my express supermag came with those sights and you can choose between 3 or 4 diff colors and 2 shapes (circle and triangle)

Thanks guys. Went to the range yesterday and shot a few rounds. Buck shot slugs and bird shot. Evegthig went smoothly, but I did encounter jamming issues when trying to unload a shot round and chamber a new one. Brought it home and gave it a good clean. Hopefully no more jam issues.

I will look into the sight upgrade. Thanks!

I think aippi is saying the Hi Viz will not work with your barrel unless you have the bead drilled and a new one installed. Ust the one aippi recommends unless you want to do a lot of work or take it to a gun smith.
We manufacture the best night sights, sight installation tools, ghost rings, AR BUIS, shotgun beads, and optic mounts for all your favorite gun brands.

It sounds as if the jam was typical of a new out of the box 870. Go to aippi's web page and read the cleaning instructions for installing and cleaning new barrels. http://www.aiptactical.com/Page_2.html

does my shotgun have a magazine retainer? I reassembled the shotgun and it is now difficult to get 6 shells in the mag. Did I do something wrong? Man, I miss my Benelli already.

I had the same trouble. Go to aippi's web page and look at http://www.aiptactical.com/Page_2.html under "Tube Extensions".

Also, JD suggested this to me, push the shells in as far as you can and release them as you load.
