    Buckshot Question

I was at walmart and noticed they had OO buckshot in a 15 round pack. I have never seen buckshot at walmart before so without even really looking at it I bought a pack. Now that I'm home, and examining my purchase, I have found I bought Remington Express Magnum Buckshot.

Is this the super high pressure stuff or will any shotgun that accepts 3" shells be able to fire it? I looked online and the only difference I can find is that the regular Express Buckshot is 2 3/4" and the Magnums are 3".

My shotgun is a whinchester 1300 defender. It accepts 3" shells but not sure about "magnum" loads. Or is the magnum on the remington box just stand for "hey its 3" instead of a 2 3/4""?

Hi Nick, I found the 1300 manual online and copied this:

    AMMUNITION
    All current 12 and 20 gauge Model 1300s have a 3"
chamber and are designed to shoot all factory loads such
    as 3" Magnum, 2 3⁄4" Magnum, 2 3⁄4" High Velocity, 2 3⁄4" Field
and Target loads. The barrel can safely shoot both lead
and steel shot. Special rifled choke tubes and rifled barrels
are designed for shooting sabot-type slugs. Winchester
ammunition is always an excellent choice for your new
    Winchester shotgun, delivering unmatched performance
    and dependability.
MAKE SURE YOU USE ONLY THE EXACT
    AMMUNITION/GAUGE AS LISTED ON THE
    LEFT SIDE OF THE BARREL.

You'll be totally okay assuming your gun is still safe to shoot.

There should be a listing of velocity someplace on the box. Probably in the 1300-1400 FPS range. If it's that or less, good to go.

          yeah its only 1250 FPS.

I was buying these for my HD round. Not sure if the "magnum" is a little overkill or not. Should be fun to shoot though

I like 'em. If they're the ones I'm thinking about, you get something like 12 pellets instead of 9.

Your 1300 will shoot any shotgun shell out there chambered in 12ga. If you had a hundred year old no-name gun I'd be leary, but your gun should be perfectly fine.

I used the walmart 00 buck last weekend at my shotgun class and it worked very well fired a couple of those magnum rounds and holly crap!!!! my suggestion is buy the value pack 2 3/4 anytime you see it cause it never stays in stock long!!!

They feed beautifully through my 1300. Nothing fazes this thing.
