Blocking the magazine is a foreign concept to people on calguns? Doesn't even need to be "permanent" for DFG.

        You're right.... the underlined part...

        (4) Shotguns 10 Gauge or Smaller. Shotguns 10 gauge or smaller using shot shells only and incapable of holding more than three shells in the magazine and chamber combined may be used. except no shotgun larger than 12 gauge shall be used in areas open to hunting on, over or adjacent to the waters of Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo County. If a plug is used to reduce the capacity of a magazine to fulfill the requirements of this section, the plug must be of one piece construction incapable of removal without disassembling the gun. Shotgun shells may not be used or possessed that contain shot size larger than No. BB in lead or T shot in steel or other nontoxic shot approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. All shot shall be loose in the shell.

For ducks and geese the smaller barrel may not be optimal. (I don't think you can get anything above a 24?? But I might be wrong...). But if you go in some honey duck blind where they are landing on you blast away. I know of an old timer who designs duck clubs and owns a couple who hunts with a .410 and get's a limit every time he goes out.

Camo is primarily to fool humans into paying more money than they need to for a shotgun.

I would also look into the Benelli Nova very nice shotgun and is on sale for $379.99 at Big 5 sporting goods. One of the very nice features it has is that is has the option to open the slide while not chambering a round so you can put a different shotgun shell in there as the situation calls for it.

Yeah, barrel length and lack of chokes would be the problem for hunting with a saiga. Still doesn't technically prevent you from doing it though. I'm not a hunter myself, but I do understand the point of longer barrels and chokes.

It just seemed kind of silly to call the 870 the "ak of shotguns" when there is clearly already an ak of shotguns that isn't the 870
