        a few Upgrades

-Mesa tactical 6 shell side saddle
        -Hogue overmold stock (short one)
        -hogue overmold forearm

i took it out to my BLM spot yesterday and shot 125 rounds through it.

overall the 870 functioned flawlessly. a couple minor problems i had:
-when i racked back and forth, it did not chamber the round, it got left in the
        receiver.
-i racked the action and it woudnt go into battery, the spent shell hadnt
ejected all the way and created a stove pipe situation.

these two situations only happened once. most likely operator error.

i liked the maneuverability the shorter stock gave me. the forearm grip was helpful with gloves (33*F) and the sidesaddle was convenient for having extra ammo close.

i really enjoy shooting shotgun and would enjoy becoming very proficient in it. i may buy magpuls dynamic shotgun video or take some classes.

let me know what you guys think!

        thanks,
        -OD

Your ejection and stovepipe problems can probably be easily cured by a simple process explained by calgunner 'aippi'. Search his posts, the process involves steel wool and a wooden dowel.

no sir, its not a shell stuck in the chamber, which makes the action difficult to rack. it simply didnt eject the shell out of the receiver.

Hmmm...are you sure you were good? I mean...what if all the "good" kids got Benelli M4's? That would make you one of the "bad" kids.

Sorry, I couldn't resist teasing you. Great gift! I must have been extra bad because I didn't get anything near as nice. Shoot it in good health!

                  Peace

Is the forend pictured with the sidesaddle an aftermarket. I heard you needed a shortened forend to use a 6 shell sidesaddle. Does the new one permit you to load the magazie with the action open?

                          Nice gun, OD.

Remember, a gun like this needs to be racked with authority, so it doesn't give any hiccups. That chamber deal happens only with some shells, and as I understand, polishing it will fix it.

I am interested in getting one of those 7+1 Expresses from Big 5 sometime. I just need to earn money.
