    XMAS 870!!

apparently ive been a good boy this year because santa brought me a Remington 870!!

i believe its the Express model, its labeled on the box, but not on the receiver.

i need to accessorize it asap!

im going with a mesa tactical side saddle.

ill have to change the forearm, and i think id like to keep the stock matching. i was thinking the hogue rubberized setup? any suggestions?

but id like to put a sling on it. i like the GG&G receiver end plate (or similar) and for the front Mesa tactical has a barrel/mag tube clamp with a swivel attachment i was looking into.

i dont know if it supplies proper support for the mag tube though?

i could use all suggestions and advise on accessories and what not. also what type of shells do you use for HD? i heard to run 2 less than lethal first (i think aippi tactical?)

    thanks

I think it looks great! If it was mine I wouldn't need to change a thing. Just me though, I have been through the whole accessories adding phase. I prefer less is better now. Great gun, can't go wrong with a 870. Congrats.

I would just put a smaller length stock and that's it.

Was your wife on CG a couple of weeks ago asking advice on buying a gun for her husband?

Congrats on the 870! Good call on replacing that forearm and getting the mesa tactical sidesaddle.Ive seen people have a hard time doing an admin unload with that long forearm. For me the long forearm feels wierd to use. The mesa tac sidesaddle if its metal will be more durable than a plastic one. I've seen some plastic sidsadlles chip/break but they still can hold shells.

Check out Knoxx Spec- Ops .Adjustable for lenght, reduces recoil by about 80%

thanks for all the responses guys i appreciate it. ive wanted an 870 for a long time just never got around to doing it.

i know its a great gun right out of the box, but heres my reasoning:

                    -side saddle
-carry extra shells for A- extra rounds or B- different loads.
                    -forearm/stock
-to clear side saddle / im a little anal about matching
                    -Sling/mounts
-ive never wanted a sling until i went blm shooting 2 weekends ago and walking
around and switching from rifle (now shotgun) to pistol wasnt easy. i slung my AR
                    and i love it.

                    thanks

Congrats on the 870, a great shotty platform (I have 2 myself). I am going to head you off at the pass here (so to speak), there is a very food chance that you will initially run into problems such as not being able to cycle rounds. Do not be alarmed as this is normal for new 870's. Remignton has a well known issue with their tooling on the 870's which you can read about on the interwebs that has to do with the chamber/throat of the barrel being to tight which makes it real tought to cycle the next round but their are a couple of things you can do the help it along.

                        1. Take some steel wool and polish out the chamber or

                        2. Round about 1 rounds of magnum shells through it.

                        3. Or just keep running bird shot till the problem goes away.

After you get through this issue if you even see it you should not have any problems with it and enjoy, as I said it is a great platform and everybody makes something for it.

Cntrolsguy- thank you for the heads up, I'm going to run in first and see if I encounter the tight chamber syndrome! My dads 870 did that so i won't be alarmed.

                          Thanks
