I can't seem to find that spot on my shoulder. I shoot a 12 gauge and the recoil causes discomfort my first time out. It caused a few bruises due to me shooting the incorrect way but was fairly accurate versus the correct way my second and third trip. Does anyone have some pictures to share where the slot is that the butt is suppose to go?

Also, I've looked into buying a Remington Recoil Reducing Pad which is suppose to lessen the recoil by 40%. Does it work well?

Make a "chicken wing" and roll your shoulder in a 360. The crease made where your hand makes contact should be the spot you're looking for.

Make sure you keep firm contact between the butt pad and your shoulder; lest you absorb recoil impact instead of recoil energy.

What type of gun are you shooting, and how many rounds? Are you getting the butt properly in your shoulder, [U]and[U] are you keeping your cheek on the stock. Your forward hand should be loose on the fore end.
I shoot a SXS or O/U and usually 150-200 per day with no problem.

Close your eyes and mount your shotgun....now open your shooting eye....This is what you should see. Just the bead sitting on the barrel. If the gun does not fit you, it will continue to hurt.....with or without a pad
