Saiga 12 - which lock to get?

I've been thinking of getting a Saiga 12 and I notice there are a bunch of locks that are available (since us folks in California must have one installed before we take ownership of it).

What's the general consensus on the locks or are any of them good to go?

I see an OC Armory lock, Assault Planet lock, PRK lock, and a Solar Tactical AK (unless the Solar is only for an AK???).

I guess there are others out there besides the ones I listed.

    Thanks!

I'm surprised that there aren't any responses to this. I have the same question.

For an unconverted s12, the original prk-type lock is the way to go (the one fed and aloharover came up with 3 years ago).

i just purchased a S12 from a fellow calgunner, he had swap to the PRK lock from the OC lock to get ammo bros to do the transfer.

If I plan on doing a conversion, it seems like I have to pay for one mag lock to buy the base S12, and then another for after the conversion. Other than buying a gun that has already been converted, is that it?

I actually converted my s12 around my oc armory bb

you cant ever have a s12 without a bb in cali
not even for a second to change the locks

I used a AK-BUILDER tg and modified it to fit OVER my BB

I used screws so I can reverse it someday when we become more free or I move out of state

That's pretty much how it goes. If you buy it from a dealer already in CA, it will have the first mag-lock installed already. Then you will have to change it out while doing the conversion. If it is from out of state, you will have to have the first mag-lock installed before it is shipped here.

I have an extra lock...pm sent.

I like the horns custom one. Came installed from Arms of America. It took a little trimming to be compliant, but they have they worked out now.

This will not fit Saiga 12.

OC Armory one can be bent off with a pinky finger = detachable magazine without using a tool = assault weapon. Its as bad as having no magazine lock at all. If you've got one, ditch it for one that is stronger. It's the same (but not quite as easy) with the SolarTac AK lock. Not sure if it's possible with their S12 lock because I haven't handled one, but it looks like the same design.

I have the OG FEDUPWBS/AlohaRover on my unconverted S12 and the PRK lock on both my conversions (because PRK did the conversions).

I have never seen my lock bent off with a pinky finger. It does what it is designed to do which is secure the magazine in place. I can destroy any magazine lock on the market and make it a detachable magazine. I stand behind my product 100%. If anyone has a problem with their lock I will be happy to repair or replace it. If anyone has any concerns or questions they are welcome to call me at the shop. I am here anytime the store is open.
