Mark112 - Remington is not a Horrible company. Sending a new weapon to a service center is always and option, however, the polishing rod is also a tool that you will use when you clean your weapon. So the advise to forget it is misguided.
Of hundreds of this same barrel I have sold, and the 50+ that I have in the shop for sale none have extraction issues. Why? because this same device corrected it. It is a preventitive coating that keeps the weapon from rusting in long term storage not a manufacturing issue and cheap ammo that causes this. Get that off the chamber steel and the issue is over. And yes, some of these weapon sit in the warehouses of distributors for months and months before the make it to us dealers and then may sit in the gun shops for months so this is a good thing to do to these weapons.
If you can't polish your chamber and bore, how the heck are you going to maintain the weapon and keep it clean? Send it to a Service Center for cleaning?
I doubt they "Recut" your chamber as I don't even know what that means. I doubt they even honed it. They simply ran a chamber rod through it and polished it out and you did without your weapon for a few days for nothing. And yes I have lightly honed a couple with a ball hone but not for this reason.
However if someone can not construct this simple polishing rod and use it nor clean their weapon properly then I recommend taking it to a gun smith for cleaning. So sending the weapon in may have been the best option for you. Others will correct the issue simply and without mailing their weapon somewhere.
