I'm more embarrased by a shotgun with no scratches. It's like a brand new pair of white sneakers. I scraped my 590's barrel on some barricade or something at a match, I guess you'd say it came by it honestly .

It's not a wallhanger, it's just a shotgun, sharpie it, and move on.

You buy a Mossberg shotgun. You get a scratch or two. Not a problem. Use a sharpie to black it in, and don't let it rust there.

Suppose you buy a Purdey shotgun. You get a scratch or two. You have a problem.

I race motocross, and all of my $500 dollar helmets get a light drop in the parking lot before I hit the track for the first time. Guns are the same way, use and abuse them!!! Military guns are built to be handled by 19 year old Marines!! No sane person can dish out that kind of abuse in the civilian world!!

I've trained with some LEOs that were as skilled as the average 5 year old girl. Absolutely frightening. Ask their department trainers how poor some officers skill sets are. They'll own up to it. It is not their trainers fault. Some officers simply refuse to embrace the training. Some because they are anti-gun, some because they buy into Hollywood myths, some just because they are lazy, some because they just can't get it.

My favorite story is about an officer who grabbed his AR15 from his squad car and proceeded to search a building for a suspect. After the suspect got away and the search was over he asked a senior officer to clear his weapon for him because he could not remember how. To make matters worse, the weapon was empty. The officer forgot to chamber a round. He went into a building after an armed suspect with an empty rifle. The officer he told me this story was a fellow student at a shooting school earlier this year. Pretty scary how unskilled some of our officers are.

I'm not saying it is not alright to take pride in your firearms. However, it is impossible to train properly and regularly and maintain a firearms appearance. Simply drawing and re-holstering repeatedly will jack it up. So for a guy to carry his immaculate XD around in the case all the time definitely implies a lack of ability. Why is it not on his hip? What good will it do him in the case? How often is he at the range running and gunning if at all? Handguns skills are extremely perishable. They require constant practice to keep them sharp.

Now if you told me he was a Delta Operator, then I would be impressed and be a lot more willing to accept what he told me as gospel. Those guys train well beyond the average person's breaking point.

Well, Purdey shotguns start at $100,000.00 (according to the quick Internet search I just did) and anyone hunting with them or doing tactical training with them has more money than brains. Frankly, buying one in the first place means you have more money than brains. Then again, if you can afford it, it is your money, do what you want with it!

Extreme examples aside the price tag of your firearm does not dictate how often and how realistically you train with it. Like I said, my ARs are $2K plus. Vang Comp tactical shotguns are pricey as heck, as are Wilson Combat 1911 handguns. All of which are meant to be used in a combat environment.

It is my every day duty weapon and it sees the range atleast once a week. I expect it to get scratched I just hoped it would have been further down the road. And yea the co worker of mine with the xd obviously has it holstered while on duty but if he isnt out on partrol its in the box, when he is at the station it is in the box, if he isnt on a call or on patrol its in the box. He is a character.

To the OP if it makes you feel better, I watched my brand new Beretta A400 fall down my stairs. I just got the gun out of jail and was prety anixous to get to the range. I forgot to zip up the case all the way. To my horror I watched it drop, flip end over end and slam into the wall . Scratched the wood in a couple of spots. So I feel your pain.

I thought you worked for the Sheriff, now it's PD..... So which is it? From my understanding there is both. As far as talking trash, you are just upset because 2-3 weeks ago you didn't know a thing about shotguns. A few days later you were dogging on somebody else over their's..... That is until you got called out on your supposed all so expansive swat knowledge of the shotgun with the previous threads brought to light. I as well as several others were more than willing to help you8 with the info you needed, until you became a dick to a fellow calgunner. Now every thread you get involved with seems to have some suspicious talk of you being LEO with such great knowledge and all of it always sounds like BS. Sorry, but quite a few others have said the same thing. now you created a thread whining about a simple scratch which just makes it further questionable. Of course now it's a "joke" yet you sure as hell seem pretty upset about it. Especially for a "duty weapon" as you say it is. Even funnier you also go about asking if a 30rd mag would "FIT" in a bullet buttoned AR when you move to AZ. Or the best one.... "will out of state mags fit in a CA gun?" Really shows your expansive knowledge of all these weapons you use on "SWAT" is nil. It is also quite curious that you have never posted in the LEO section.... I mean it's not everyone's thing, but seems like something in there would've aroused your interest at least. Especially since you're a member of swat. All would've been fine had you not thrown stones at another innocent member like you were better than him before trying to trash talk everyone who came to his defense.

I never trashed talked any1 that came to his defense, Im sorry I didnt say Sheriffs department sorry buddy Ill make sure I use the correct term. Also lets see which 1 is easier to type....sheriffs department, or PD. So does that answer your question. As I said before I am not the only person who uses this computer and the AR your talking about is my sons and he is going to AZ for college so im guessing he wanted to know the details on that. I already know what your going to say, why didnt he ask me right? Maybe because he wasnt supposed to have that gun in the first place. (which im going to talk to him about). As I said before I dont need to prove myself to any1 on here and that should go for every1. Also ive never posted on the LEO section because untill this moment I didnt even know there was 1, if your going through all the trouble to look up my previous posts and comments then you need a hobby my friend there is more to life than being an internet tough guy. Im sorry my lingo or posts offend you but if they are that big of a bother dont comment just ignore them. Now whos the dick for talking crap? I believe you are, your giving me crap for all the **** I talked now your doing exactly the same that make you a hypocrite. go ahead and reply talking more trash your not going to get a reply from me Im over this high school trash talk.

How about a civil discussion. How does where the guy works or does not work mean anything to a question about how to touch up Parkerizing? I don't know the kid, he got flip with me on other post and I don't care. I bet I am old enough to be his father but it does not bother me. I answered his question anyway as it was a ligimate question and I parkerize guns for a living and know the subject. I don't know if he is the real deal or not. Some of his comments make me wonder but it is nothing to me. He posted a question and got an answer. He can work on how he responds. I am working on my responses and trying to be civil and maybe he is. He has had some good input, not a lot, but then niether have some of the people that are bashing him now. This is not what people come to this site for. They come here because they have questions or have input. I know the subject of shotguns and how they are deployed and I can call out a lot of you for some of the mess you reply to. Many of you have gotten IM from me as I did not want to correct you in open forum. So IM the kid if you think he is a clown. All of you do it. He will get the message. Hell, IM me if you think I am a clown or you don't want my input on this site. Putting this crap here in open forum will simply drive people from the site and make us all look like a bunch of clowns. I am about to write calguns off my list for just this kind of mess. Add all the tacti-fool junk, persoanl attacks and silly mess that has nothing to do with shotguns and one would wonder why they come here. As for the OP, if you are for sure out there in uniform and interacting with the public you need to know that the flip stuff can get you hurt, but again, from my expirience it is not the officer with the nasty attitude that gets hurt it is the guys that come to back him up. Just a little wisdom from years of seeing it happen. Then soon no one wants to work with you or they drag *** to a back up call if they know it is you. Want to be an old retired fart like me one day? Chill out.
