Stroeger Condor Shotguns

I recently purchased a 12 gauge Condor Competition O/U and a Condor 20 gauge O/U. For the price I think they are an excellent buy. It would be a mistake to compare them to Brownings and Barettas but I find them superior to the Mossberg and Savage O/U made in Turkey. I think Stroeger has some quality control issues and one needs to look over the gun closely before purchase.
What are your thoughts?

My buddy has 5 or 6 thousand rounds through his now and no issues. General consensus from the internet is to spend more for something else...

If you are an occasional clays shooter with a few hundred rounds/year it should be fine as a first sg. If you plan to shoot competitively and/or put 5000 rounds through it in a month ... Get a good comp gun.

Always wipe down the hinge/reciever of the gun and use a good gun grease everytime.

I just bought one too. So far its pretty good for me mainly because i shoot for fun and the price is right (under $350). My only complaint about it, which actually i'm not sure is this is the same for all o/u, is that when you break the barrel to reload the shotgun it is really hard to cock it. I dunno if maybe its cuz its still brand new and it'll get easier over time but it kinda sucks cuz it takes more "umpf'' to break the barrel to do the whole eject/reload/cock action.
Anyone else having issues like me?

My experience with Stoeger is on their coach gun, which I've found to be excellent in several examples either owned or handled by me. I looked at the Condor when I was shopping for an entry level O/U for recreational clay shooting and upland hunting. The couple of examples I handled were solid with good to excellent fit and finish. They mounted pretty well for me and I think they'd have needed only a minimal amount of fitting. I was sold.

Then I fell into a NIB Remington SPR 310 (made by Baikal in Russia) on a close out at less than half of SRP, so I went with that and am very happy so far. However, I have been thinking about a 20, and I'm thinking it just might be a Condor.

I went with the Remington 310 too in 20GA . I like that it selectivley ejects spent shells but not unfired one. dont beleive the Stoeger does this. got it for $359 from CDDN sport.

I agree the the Strogers are a bit stiff opening but I think this will be a good thing with time. I use a little gun grease and silicon each time I clean it and it hasn't been an issue. I pick up my 20 gauge today.

I was miffed after buying my Condor when it says on their website it has "ejectors" but they are actually just extractors.

yep - luckily I did my homework and avoided that with teh Remy 310.

I thought that too at first, but then after looking at the fine print and rewatching the product video they did mention that the "competition" version is the one with ejectors. I acutally dont mind it too much cuz its easy for me to collect the empty shells. Bet even when you see it in store you can tell it didnt have the "pop" to eject the shells. Its good for a starter one.

I think i'd like to get a semi-auto in the future since it has more practical uses

yeah but if you load two and shoot just one - its nice to be able to open up, ejct just the one empty and load another.

This was the shorter barrel version I bought to try out as an alternate bug-out type shotgun. Not quite up to the standards my pumps offered so the ejector "miff" was dismissed as she nestled into her new long term hole in the safe.

My Competition Condor has ejectors and my Standard Condor has extractors. Actually I prefer the extractors myself.

I've had a Condor for a couple of months now and I like it. It's my fourth shot gun, and I have a lot more expensive autoloaders, but the simple O/U fits the upland hunting and trap role just fine. I compared it to the Rem and the mossbergs and it seamed better built. I was afraid of breaking the other guns, their hinge and locks felt weak. The Stoeger felt stronger.

I like the extractors myself. If I want to hunt for the empties, I shoot the autoloader.
