RIO Vs FIOCCHI

I want to buy 250rds, but don't know which brand is.......better?

Their both low recoil OO, 9 pellet. The RIO is 1200fps and FIOCCHI is 1150.

Price is $9 more for FIOCCHI. Any thoughts?

what a coincidence, I recently bought the same ammo

From about 7 yards out of an iac 982, the fiocchi had a tighter grouping than the the rio. The fiocchi had less felt recoil but in my opinion, it wasnt very significant. Yes the recoil was softer than the rio but not by a lot

I liked the fiocchi more to be honest

Fiocchi is the better ammo imo !!!

Rio is a hair longer than 2 3/4 also, don't know about fiocchi. May be an issue if you plan to put it in a comp type shell holder.

Both go bang every time, but Fiochi groups better for me.
And as for the length of the shells, 2 3/4 is NOT the length of the shell before firing but rather the length AFTER firing.

Oops, meant 2 3/8. They're actually 2 15/32 (to be exact)... just a bit too long to fit in my holders.

I bought a bunch of Rio 00 buck before a defensive shotgun class. About half the rounds were kind of sticky going into the mag tube in a Mossberg 500. i.e. sometimes I had to sort of wiggle them to get them to go in. Feeding from the mag tube to the chamber was flawless. The pattern was very wide.

The Fed Tactical comes packed with the "Flitecontrol Wad" making it some of the most accurate buckshot on the market today. The Fed Tactical rounds feed and function smooth in all of my guns from my Remingtons to my Mossbergs to my Benelli's to my Winchester. They pattern consistently as well. Simply put this is the best stuff on the market today in my opinion. I have tons of Winchester Ranger buck and it doesn't even come close. The extra cost for the Fed Tactical stuff is worth it in my opinion.

Fed with Flight Control 00 buck cannot be beat. Very tight pattern, maybe not something you want to train with all the time.
If you do buy some pattern it out of YOUR shotgun.
I went through 75 rounds in my 3 shotguns, 2 pumps and an auto loader, to see how it patterned.
Very impressive 35yards 18"smooth bore.

Rio works on my chicom pardner but for some reason the first two or three shells wont cycle my saiga12. I've got the gas to full and it just doesn't cycle. I get stovepipes and fte's. But when i run the winchester x from walmart, flawless on the saiga

It all depends on how many "DRAMS" the shell has. The Rio's might have 2 3/4 drams and the Winchester 3 drams. The Federal game shells at Walmart is 3 1/4 drams. The more drams the more powerful the shell is. Some gas gun needs the extra kick to function.

I guess the vote is in.....I'll buy the Fiocchi. I want to practice with OO and this is cheap for me.

I will spend the $60 more and get the good Federal loads for my stock pile.

Devil you need to know how your gun is going to pattern with your chosen defense load. Your gun will pattern different with different brands of buck. It is not as simple as having a practice round and then having a round to stock pile because both loads will pattern differently. In some cases vastly different. My advice would be to pick up a few 25 round boxes of different brands of buck and run them though your gun. See which one patterns the best in YOUR gun. This is going to give you the best results. If you just want to go shooting, skip the buck and buy target rounds. You can pick up 250 rounds for $65 just about everywhere.

You should also consider trying S&B buckshot.
Its very similar to the Fiochi it has clear shells, patterns pretty tight, goes bang every time and its actually cheaper than the Fiochi
