Ithaca Model 100 info?

I have a friend looking at one of these and I'm trying to find some information from him so he doesn't buy a POS. It's his first shotgun and he doens't want a pump. All I can find is stuff about SKB and being made in Japan but I don't know if some DON'T have the SKB markings or which would be better quality or anything about the gun.

SKB guns are gtg. They still make pretty much the same guns now. But the Ithaca/SKBs are getting pretty old, so I would recommand for a gunsmith to check it out first.

Are the new ones NOT SKB or what? Can't find a value of it. Guy wants $300 and neither of us have seen it.

Anything I should look for?

The new Ithaca's are made in USA and is a totally different firearm then the old ones (except the 37 pump)

$300 sounds like a fair price on a 100 sxs. If the gun looks beat up it usually is !!! If you are not gonna have a gunsmith check it out then at least make sure the opening lever is still pointed to the right of center. A opening lever pointed to the left means the gun is ready for a overhaul. Also make sure the barrel is TIGHT on the reciever and there is ZERO play between the two.
