    Affordable 870 Barrel

I purchased a Remington 870 Express HD from a friend of mine for a whopping $150. He is a good friend and felt like giving me a good deal. I think it would be wise to double this gun as a hunting shotgun, but haven't had much luck finding the barrel I need for under $200. Is that the price I should accept or are there any better deals? I figure 26-30" would be best. Oh yeah, it's chambered for 2 3/4 and 3in (I'm sure most of you already knew that). Thanks for any help guys,

that barrel is $ 192 on the Remington parts list as Part number F247291. They have a flat rate shipping but not sure what it is for retail sales as I am a dealer.

Now the good part. You can get the 870 Express that the same barrel comes on for $ 287.00 at Wal-mart and it comes with a $30 cash rebate. Or if there is no Wal-mart selling guns in your area it should not be over $300 anywhere. So, go get the new 870 get your rebate and sell the rest of the weapon. $85 for the stock set, $80 for the new trigger plate assembly, $80 for the breech bolt and $35 for the forend tube assembly with slide and tube nut. Also, you should get $150 for an unfired factory new receiver. You are $300 into the gun and are getting $ 460 with the rebate and what you get for the parts.

So, you have the barrel you want and some money in your pocket. You can also cut the prices on the new parts and sell them fast. Point is you have your barrel for no cost. Or, just order it from Remington and be out $210

Hey JD, the Wal Marts in California don't sell guns anymore, but Big 5 and Sports Authority do for good prices on sale. Good Idea though.

Johansenk, you'll occasionally find an 870 hunting barrel in the classifieds here for about $100, or you could always try shotgunworld.com, they have a pretty good classified section there too.

Mossberg makes aftermarket 870 barrels that are inexpensive. Not sure if theyr did or do make the type you want.

Didn't think they did. Even the ones here in the bigger cities stopped but our local Super Wal-mart does. Dosen't matter where he get's though, if he takes the time to follow my plan he has a free factory new barrel and cash in his pocket. I know you guys get bent over on the firearm fees out there but even with all that he gets a free barrel and cash.

My ex wife used the word Idiot and my name in same sentence a lot so you might be on to something.

A guy wanted an 18" Fully Rifled Cantilever barrel for his 20ga and called me. I explained that the barrel was $259 plus shipping but he could find the entire gun for less then $400 and sell the rest of the stuff off it and end up with his barrel for free. He said that was what he would do as he has sold some stuff on GB and GA. He will end up with his $260 free barrel and pay for the gun with the parts sales + money in his pocket. That was months ago when their was no rebate so he does not get that $30. Still, if he went did it he makes out. Guess he is an idiot also .

Thanks! I looked at gunbroker and didn't find those ones. Maybe have to refine/change my search. I like the idea of buying the gun and selling everything, problem is, I don't have the extra cash right now (I work in sportfishing, and it has been a horrible summer). Looks like I'll try to find a gunbroker one for around $100-150

Cabelas has 30" vent rib barrel with RemChoke for the 12 gauge express for 179.99. You'd have to pay shipping unless you wanted to pick it up at the store.

if you don't want the fun involved with Aippi's suggestion or can't afford the start up cost... then just lurk on Gunbroker until that deal comes up. it will come up....

you can also look on the for sale section here on Calguns.
