    Issues with Beretta Silver Pigeon

So yesterday my Silver Pigeon started giving me some problems. I break it open, load a shell and when I close it, it will immediately fire. Scary, I know. Anyway I clean it up a bit and lube the pins and stuff, and it continues to do this--so much that I just put it away. Today I pulled the stock off to get a look at the action thinking that maybe I need to clean out the firing pins or something--turns out (from what I can tell) when I close the gun the hammers are dropping. What's going on here?

What's goin' on here means you need to take it to a certified, experienced, Beretta smith asap.

May need an intense cleaning, may have a broken part. Get to the shotguns forum & ask, but get her fixed.

Most unusual, imo, for a Beretta o/u to go south.

Have you had the trigger worked on before? Did you fit subgauge tubes to the gun?

^ Agreed ^ very unusual for a Beretta O/U to go bad !!!

45 years of double shotgun experience agrees with you...don't screw with it, get her fixed by a competent gunsmith or call Beretta USA CS and arrange to have them fix it. When doubles "break" quite often the problem can be as described...I think that it is a "safety" related problem as years ago my brother had the same experience with his Browning Citori.

Well I'm digging around locally looking for a good gunsmith.

Call Beretta and get a recommendation. The screwdriver sizes required are weird enough that I'd expect only a shotgun specialist is gonna' have them in the shop. It's a nice enough gun that I would not want to give mine to a smith who's never worked on one before.

I could recommend Briley's in Houston, but that's not particularly local.
