    870 recoil reducing options

Just bought a Remington 870 HD synthetic off a friend and wanted to know what kinds of recoil reducing options are there. I already have a Knoxx stock on my Mossberg and while it performs great, I don't think it looks all that sexy anymore. I'd perfer to keep the original look and add a recoil pad to the stock or get a new original looking stock. I'd like your opinions on the following:

What is a good recoil pad for the factory synthetic stock?

What is a good stock other than Knoxx stock?

Have you seen the compstock. Its still a knoxx but it keeps the look of a regular stock

Probably too expensive for you, but the Gracoil retrofits a spring recoil system into an existing stock.

Isn't the Limbsaver precision fit the exact same pad as the Remington R3 recoil pad? They look pretty darn similar and have similar reviews but the Limbsaver is pricier.

Call me tacky, cheap or Mickey Mouse: I have this small pillow I put under my t-shirt. 12 ga. Slugs (with a recoil pad) put a little stress on the shoulder. Push-ups help with the muscle tone.

I just finished installing the Mesa Tactical recoil reducing LEO model stock on my 590A1.

I did this for two reasons; one was that even though I am 6'3" and have long arms, the OEM stock/LOP was just too long for me. It felt awkward shouldering the weapon and operating the slide.

The other reason was that recoil firing 3" mag 00 buck was insane. 2-3/4 00 & #1 buck was manageable and not excessive. But I thought why not make it all comfortable.

I have set the stock at the second to last shortest LOP position, and what a transformation!! Shouldering the gun now feels 100% natural and comfortable.

I am super glad that I went with the Mesa Tactical over the Knoxx after reading many negative posts on the Knoxx. Frankly, the similar Knoxx stock looks rather junky to me. As in most things, more money buys more quality. The Mesa Tactical is a VERY high quality piece of equipment and the roughly $275.00 I paid for it seems very reasonable for the degree of quality/workmanship evident in it. A Limbsaver recoil pad is now included with all of the kits as a nice addition that you don't have to pay extra for.

I also popped for their 6 shotshell carrier and it's also very nice. That went on without a hitch as well.

                          That's my story.

I'm ghetto... I took 38 special projectiles I had laying around and filled the stock with them. Yep it's cheap and ghetto, but ehhh

It works great and balances the gun out well, and there is definitely a very noticeable reduction in the felt recoil.
