I'd like to chime in here. After retiring with 31+ years in LE the optimum word in this thread seems to be "taken care of" I haven't seen a whole lot of police 870's that were well taken care of. Cleaning, oiled maybe, rack time lots of, in and out of the unit/trunk more than you realize, banged around you know the answer to that. Shooting (quals) yes but not necessarily the one's in the vehicle, I know someone will state that "they had to be well taken care of cause your life depended on it, not really. When was the last time you saw a copper holding a shotgun (pretty much a carbine or handgun). If it were me I'd go for the used hunting gun. My$.02 which is probably what it is worth, because when it boils down to it an 870 takes a heck of a lot of punishment and IF it ever breaks anyone can fix it with little or no skills or funds.Comment

40cal, how do you like the new LED forend? does the vang comp velcro side saddle stay put?
I agree with getting the best you can afford, but here's my 870 Express I bought in 1992 and it shoots great and feels almost as good as my high end Wingmaster. I've decked it out as you can tell. Just ran 400 rounds is a shotgun class and it ran flawless.
thanks!Comment
