    Remington 870 or Mossberg 590

Well I'm looking to pick up a inexpensive pump shotgun. Usually Big-5 has sales on the 870's every so often. And I was thinking of getting one. But they have a 590 on sale right now and it looks to be a good deal.

I have an 870, but I wish I'd waited and gotten the 590 just for the bayonet lug. You should also look at turner's sporting goods. http://www.turners.com/ That's where I got my HD model for $279+tax+DROS, new.

I have the 590A1. Heavier barrel, metal safety and trigger guard. I'd spend the extra dough on that first .

Rem 870 over Moss 500 most defiantly. Easier to clean, better made, the list goes on. How ever the 590 and the 870 would be a tough one. I think I would still go with the 870 though.

i did the whole 870 on sale at big 5 thing and timed it just right to coincide with a remington mail-in rebate. the big 5 sale was worth braving the idiot employees at poor customer service i experienced.

i really enjoy shooting my 870. no complaints with it whatsoever. solid and reliable shotgun.

                      I'd go with the 590.

You missed the boat on 870's since they all had a $30 rebate from remington last year and Big5 had better discounts as well. like $239 for a regular sporting model.

I'm not going to tell you to like one better than the other, but remingtons are more configurable since the magazine length and bbl ring are always in the same spot. you can take off the mag extension and slap on a 28" bbl for a sporting rig without having to dros a whole 'nother SG.

I'll think i'll got with the 870. Just need to wait for Big 5 to have a sale on one. Just looking for something that I can take out besides the Benelli M4.

You are on your own at Big 5. I tried to get a Yugo Mauser when it wasn't on sale at Big 5 Pasadena; I asked the guy if I could get the sale price and he said: "I can give you the sale price on lots of things but NOT guns!"

Now when I got my Remi 870 at Big 5 Monterrey Park the guy at the counter checked (without me asking) for the lowest sale price and gave me the sale price.

However, when I tried to pick up the gun they noticed my driver's license address didn't match my current address. They wouldn't release the gun until I had a "Change of Address printout from the DMV!" Even the folks at the DMV were unfamiliar with what that was. So, for $5.00 I had to give Big 5 copy of my DMV record with my change of address highlighted!
