    Is there anything that is preventing you from owning your own long gun (under age, felonies, certain misdemeanors)?

      If you're under 18, it would be wise to keep a note of permission signed by him with the gun, otherwise I can see no problem.

        he can even give you the gun as there is no paperwork needed between parents and kids. so yes, he can keep the gun at your place
