    Knoxx Sidewinder done (pics)

I finished building my Mossberg 500A Sidewinder
But I had to settle for the 6 round mags. I managed to get my hands on 3
( 1 with the kit and 2 extra)
It was actually pretty easy to install once I bough a strap wrench to remove the mag tube.
I also added a red/green dot sight for shoot'n slugs.

It feels like the kit almost doubled the weight of the gun, but I guess a few trips to the gym will take care of that...LOL

    Anyways here are the pics

Looks like I'll need to get a new case....LOL
    But it does all fit...

Here w/ 18.5" barrel and forend grip

    Here's w/o the forend grip...

Nww here's the setup for trap....
seems how you're only allowed 1 round at a time... It's no mag for me....LOL
Think this will make some people at the range scratch their heads?

I'm still waiting to try her out, but I can't wait to pop some slugs out of it
I'm also wait'n to find the 10 round drum for a decent price

Looks good. I have the same setup with the drum. Believe me, you think it's heavy now, wait until you find a drum magazine for it

Also, make sure it's perfectly aligned. I found out mine had to be readjusted after I took it to the range. But you definetely get some crazy looks at the range

      LOL
Yeah I figured it would be heavy with the drum, but I think the cool factor out weighs the weight factor...Wait is that possible...In my world, yes...LOL

My wife really liked the feel of the gun before I put the sidewinder on. After I installed it she told me it's too heavy and why did I do it. I just answered well you said you wanted your own shotgun... SO we'll just get another one... LOL

There is still some more I want to do with another barrel, but that will have to wait...LOL

Yup, to be honest ... after I put the kit on, I decided it couldn't be used for home defense due to it's weight. So I just keep my other untouched lightweight mossy around. I think the knoxx is good for the cool factor. What do you think of those 6 rounders ? The drum snaps in better than those 6 rounders for me. The latter is little angled when I put it in. Still functions but something just doesn't seem right. But maybe I'm just crazy. Enjoy your toy.

I'm jealous of you guys and your Knoxx Sidewinders. Where did you find them?

I bought mine from gunbroker when it was still in production.

I told my wife, well at least if I can't get it loaded in time It's heavy enough that I can beat the heck out of someone with it.

My wife want's her own 500, and all she wants on it is the same ATI stock I have, So that will stay nice and light.... LOL

My 6 round Mag is kinda hard to get in there, but with some practice I should be able to get it in fine. It has been taking me a couple of tries each time to get it in right. After I get it in I try and wiggle it, if it wobbles then it's not in there. But usually with a good shove it snaps into place. I tested racking the shells through the maga and everything seems to operate smoothly. Now I just need to see how it handles out on the range firing live rounds

DedEye, I found my kit on Ebay new still in the package. I found all the magazine there too. Just do a search on ebay for Knoxx Sidewinder or just Knoxx on ebay.... Just be prepared to pay alot for it... Like about the same price of the shotgun... LOL... My 6 round mags were about $80 buck a peice. I've been holding off on the 10 rounder because they go from around $150 to $400

yeah actually I took it to the range twice so far and she works great now. The first time the red dot scope was crap... You know the saying you get what you pay for...LOL
But after I removed the scope it woks great.
But I do have to tweak it some still. the ATI stock makes it hard to line the bead up. But I have an idea to fix it.

Here's a video from our last time out...

                here's some pics...

She was able to cycle all 30 slugs no problem

Nice ... got a kit and 6 mags coming for my mossy, hopefully it isn't too hard to install it. Also grabbing a knoxx specops stock, hopefully it'll help get shots off alot faster.

Just be aware that the Sidewinder does increase the weight alot.
It's made of some really heavy duty stuff. But the kit is really easy to install
Just be sure to have the mag well lined up exactly.

also just be aware that the magazines are expensive too, because they don't make them any more

Thanks for the tips, hopefully I can install it as easy as you did.
Everything has been paid for, just waiting for it, 6 mags and the sidewinder in the mail.

I read that it felt better to shoot with the grip off and just like a regular pump, have you tried that?

Yeah I've shot her both ways
I like it with the grip. It just feels more comfortable to me with the extra weight. I still want to try out trap shooting with it.... without the magazine of course...LOL

I fixed the link to the Video to one that only had me blasting my Mossberg...LOL

Install isnt too bad. Hardest part I would say is throwing the bolt and assembly back together right. Took me about an hour for the entire install, and thats with triple checking every step, and I still managed to mess that up. Important note, * you have to leave one of the rails out(cartridge stop/interrupter), I forgot which one it is, but you will read it in the step(its so brief its easy not to see it). They should have put that in super large bold letters. If you dont, your rounds wont cycle properly...AMHIK!
