Chabot is the most expensive for trap. The member price of $7 is more than some places charge the non-members. I'm not a member so it's $8.

Wow, you're trying out all the sports, Rikka. What about highpower rifle competition, huh? When you going to give that a try? Only checking cause that's my favorite

Andy now has my over under in his posession as well. I almost went out and bought another
shotgun today because the safe looked empty!

Rika I want to install a new recoil pad on the butstock next time you reload let me know so I can buy the pad and install it while you reload. I takes me about an hour to fit and finish.

I was always right handed and now am left eye dominant. It is like learning to shoot all over again. I was 2 for my first 15. After George stood behind me and showed me what I was doing wrong in his masterfuly simplific way I hit 7 of my last 8. I feel good about shooting the 12 gauge again.

Money well spent, except for the getting beat up by Rika part.

Now I'm getting interested in this...

I live in Dublin, so Livermore is just a hop, skip and a jump.

I know I shouldn't use my Benelli M1S90 for trap shooting, so what are good shotguns and gauges to consider for this sport?

        Thanks!

If you have a 28" barrel for your M1S90 - why not? One thing I've never seen at Livermore is anybody being put down because of the equipment that they were using.

I started with a Beretta AL391 semi auto in 12, liked it so much I bought the same model in 20 for my son. I just recently purchased a Beretta 687 O/U Silver Pidgeon III - I still can't hit squat though

Ivanimal. Boy, it must be like learning to walk all over again for you.

I am slacking on practicing handgun but must have to reload in next couple of weeks for sure.

Thanks Ivanimal aka my big angel.

For those of you commenting on Chabot's cost ($7 or $8...ouch). Livermore, if you are a member, you can shot a round for $4.35 (by buying their 20 round punch card). The trap range in Manteca (only one trap house though and limited hours) is $4.00. The Stockton Trap & Skeet is in the $5 range, but I have not been there yet, but I hear it's half way decent.

The Livermore class was fun, but I tend to second guess (i.e. miss) my shot when someone is looking over my shoulder, at least that's my excuse and I'm stickin' to it!

A fun sporting clays class to take is www.ospschool.com when Vicki and Gil come to Comanche Hills Hunting Preserve up at Lake Comanche. Comanche Hills is also a great place to practice sporting clays. I think it's about $0.36 a clay plus golf/gun cart rental there. The class is an all day class (or multi-day class if you want to spend the $$). I took it a few weeks ago and learned a huge amount that I am still trying to incorporate in my shooting style. It was also the first time I had ever seen a "mini" clay target. It appeared to be the size and speed of a supersonic oreo cookie. I could not hit that thing to save my soul.

5 stations, 5 rounds per station. A round then is a full box of 25 shells. See yah there Rika!

Thanks! I was informed there is a big match going on this weekend at Livemore. So, I might not go there. Maybe next weekend....

The match this weekend is the California Golden State Trapshooting Association Winter Chain.
It'll probably be busier Sunday than Saturday, but the practice traps are still open.

                          Good Luck,
                          Keith

Hopefully I did not scare people away from Livermore this Saturday from my previous post. It ended up being fairly deserted after 1:00pm. There were only a couple people shooting. The wind was playing with the targets though. I swear I saw one of my targets drop about 4ft with one gust of wind.

How about USI in Concord (on Evora Rd)? Are they comparable with Livermore? (I live about 1/2 between USI and Livermore).

What's the deal with memberships there? The place is owned by several clubs, so which one to join? Anyone know what the membership/initiation fees are?
