Does anyone know if the 590 can be changed out with a 500bbl?

Why would you want to do that? It's pretty much the same thing to begin with, save for a heatshield, paint and a trued reciever. Better sights on the 590 stock.

But to answer your question, probably.

I don't think you can. The barrel is secured at the end of the magazine tube and the 590 has a longer magazine tube than the 500. So if you try to slip the ring on a 500 barrel over the magazine tube of your 590, the barrel would be quite a few inches from even touching the receiver.

That is exactly the case.

Get a 590A1 or an 870. The "590" is a cheap production copy of the 590A1, still a very functional shotgun, but whats the point?

my base model 590 hasnt had one problem and I've shot probably 1k shells through it of mostly slugs and 00 buck. awesome shotgun and has 9 rounds of furry!

870's are good also but I like capacity
