    Practical shell carrying solutions?

If you wanted to prepare for a SHTF situation, and wanted to be able to carry as many shells on your person while making sure they were easy to access when reloading in a hurry, what would you choose?

Anyone try one of those belts?

Try a bandolier. They're manly... Chewbacca wore one!

I'd think carrying shells on the belt would get in the way of your backup pistol and mags.

      California Competition Works shell caddy's.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

I am partial to the blackhawk, drop leg, 2x20 shot shell holder, you can even add another 2x4 shells in between the two rows...I own one and its on my duty belt ready to go next to my 870 including 1911 holster/mag holders etc.

I like plastic buckets for mine. The spiral shaped shells are my favorites.

This is the one I really want. Best of both worlds for having both shotgun shells and AR mags .

bandoleer, throw it over your shoulder and go, 40+ shells. Also a sling with shell loops is nice and a side saddle doesnt hurt either....i have all three for my 870.

If you are wanting instead of owning - due to price, you may look at this as well.

Although on my end I did this for my SHTF situation:
                  Vest: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MOLLE305-19884-1977.html
                  pistol mag storage: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MOLLE317-19896-1975.html
(vest attaches to belt) Pistol Belt: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MLT4172-1480-1965.html
                  2 Leg Drops: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MOLLE319-19898-1978.html
(on leg drop) 1 holster for a sidearm: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MOLLE325-19904-1975.html
(on leg drop) shotgun ammo bag (60 slugs): http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MOLLE325-19904-1975.html

I haven't quite decided if I like this setup or not though... when I first put it together, I didn't have the vest yet, so I was relying on the pistol belt... and I'm a majorly under-weight guy, so the pistol-belt even at smallest waist size was a little too big. Then add in the weight of the ammo only being held by the belt, and the leg drops, and it wasn't all that fun when I did a multi-mile hike up in the mountains... So i added the vest - which attaches to the belt, to offer some weight distribution to the shoulders... but I haven't "field (or mountain) tested" the new setup yet. But for about $80 - I have a hugely customizable setup - that has been changed already several times. (I've also added radio carriers, first aid-kit, etc) so it's a rather complete setup... but I wont bore you guys to death with all the stuff I bought!

                  Enjoy!

Nice looking setup, and great price on that other vest. Problem for me is that I'm a lefty and shoot handguns left handed, so the right-hand draw holster wouldn't work well for me.

As many shells as possible? Um, I've carried a hundred shells at the ready in my dove hunting vest and another few boxes in the game pouch of said vest. They are relatively inexpensive and can be worn over other clothing. If you want to spend money you can get all the other accessories to your heart's content, but if I wanted to carry lots of shotgun ammo, a hunting vest would be my choice.

A bandoleer usually weighs around 2 pounds in strap and nylon. Figure each shell weighs 1.2 ounces with standard 8 pellet 00.
