    Dude.

This is the second time you've asked this question. I'm trying to be nice - but I'm losing my patience because you're not doing your part to educate yourself.

Saw the barrel off your shotgun at your peril.

    Felony.

    10 years in a FEDERAL prison. [That means this ( o ) ends up like this ( O )]

    It's also a $10,000 fine.

Here's the straight dope about your supervisor.... He's a f'in retard. Get a new job - preferrably one where management isn't trying to get you sent to prison.

    Look UP ^^

On the blue bar above, there's a tab called CA Shotgun AW ID Flowchart (which I've also conveniently linked). Read it. Study it. It will keep you out of prison.

And seriously, slap your supervisor. He's a dumbass.

Ask Randy Weaver about sawing shotgun barrels of a little short of 18". That cost him more than $10,000. It cost him his wife and son.

Besides, you don't just take a hacksaw and hack of a hunk of barrel and expect the thing to shoot anywheres close to where you point it. It is an art to reduce barrel length. But by the posts on this thread gents, common sense and legal advice is falling on deaf ears. They seem to be wannabe Billy Bad-*****e$ or wannabe gunsmiths, I can't tell, but some are just not getting it. 26" OAL, 18" barrel length period or risk going to jail and making the rest of us law abiding gun owners look bad.

Please someone dump some chorine in the gene pool, quick.

            so much it hurts....

Basically you have to have a min of 18 inches on your shotgun barrel. I leave 18.25 or 18.5 on there to be safe.

OK, aside from the legal issues, why do you want to saw off a Mossberg or Remington shotgun? What will you do with the pump fore end and the magazine tube? A double barrel coach gun I can understand, but a pump action??????

Taurus thats what I was asking the OP. How do you plan on shortening the mag tube without having to shorten and re weld or re machine one end or the other to shorten it and then in turn shorten the barrel. You are limited in the amount you can shorten the shotgun by the mag tube so UNLESS you can purchase a shorter mag tube or shorten the existing one you have the barrel is gonna stop where the mag tube ends at the front of the gun. But hey do what you want and hopefully you enjoy hairy violent men rubbing up against you in your bunk/ Hold on to my pocket is gonna have a whole new meaning for you

I personally think for a pump, 20" is the min because it allows you to have 7+1 or is it 8+1? The main purpose of a pump for me would to have a good amount of shells while having a reasonable barrel length. 20" for me does that. If it is a single shot or a sxs by all means cut that bad boy down because I did that to mine. For an O//U I wouldn't cut down.

nobody is saying to sit there and shut up. its just prople getting ticked because youre asking the same thing over and over when its already been posted by a few members. To tell you the truth I would get a 18 1/2 or 20 inch barrelshotgun. i have a older mossberg home defender 20 inch barrel with 8 shot capacity and it is my go to shotgun in a HD scenario.
Just remember to check on here before you do any mods to the shotgun. Seriously though you don't want jail time for something silly like that.

Or, if you have a 26", you can just lop off the last 7.5 inches. (26 - 7.5 = 18.5)

There are also sites available through the CA Attorney General's office regarding firearms laws. Can you type G O O G L E and search? For crying out loud, don't rely on other peoples word for it, if in doubt, look it up yourselves. I doesn't take a Harvard Law grad to figure that out.

And btown, I'm with jd on this one....slap your supervisor, with a penal code book...Dangerous Weapons section.
