The gun is yours. A manufacturer or repair FFL can send it directly back to you if you sent it to them for repair. Kinda like you can mail yourself your guns from state to state to avoid flying with them.

Well worth the money and Hans is a good guy.
I've been running a Vang 590A1 for about 8 years.

Years ago i sent a HK SP89 to volmers for some work. I took a friday off of work a couple of months later to go hunting for 3 days. When i got back sunday night my SP89 was sitting on my porch. It had been delivered friday and sat there all weekend.

Get the work you want done by Hans, you will not be disappointed. It may cost a few bucks more, but you will have a quality product. I have owned two, but sold one to a friend Vang 590A1's they are top of the line, you're 870 will be just as good. Vang was installing LPA adjustable GR sights on his guns, but they just couldn't get enough of them to him, so he's making his own....only better. They are a little bit smaller and fit better IMO on the 870's

The groups certainly tightened up after getting the Vang Comp barrel, but since I don't have another shotgun, I don't have anything to compare this to anymore.

For me the package was worth it, mainly for the good job they did installing the ghost rings. Plus, I am still amazed how little muzzle lift I have, and at how much my sights still stay on target for a 12 gauge, even with slugs.

I have the exact same experience with my VCS setup. Go for it, you will not be disappointed.

              Creampuff,

              1. Is the rear sight with the rail your gun click adjustable for windage and elevation?
              2. Did they refinish the whole gun with the sight install?
              3. Does it hold zero well?
              4. What kind of accuracy are you getting at 100 yards w/slugs?
              5. Do you also have the front sight with the XS insert done as well?

              Thanks!

That was my one disappointment, the MMC rear sight is click adjustable for elevation, just use the rim of a shell to adjust. However, for windage you do need to use a tiny little hex key/wrench. But in theory, once you have zeroed for windage, you probably won't need to adjust anymore.

                2. Did they refinish the whole gun with the sight install?

I did ask them to parkerize the finish, after they were done. But that was because the Express finish is pretty lousy to begin with.

                3. Does it hold zero well?
                Very well, even with slugs.

                4. What kind of accuracy are you getting at 100 yards w/slugs?
I haven't taken it out to 100 yards yet. But at 50 yards, I am getting about 2.5 to 3 inch groups. Honestly that is reflection of the shooter and not the barrel. I tend to shoot 5.56mm much more, so the hammering of my shoulder even with the Knoxx Op causes me to flinch just a bit more than I am willing to admit.

                5. Do you also have the front sight with the XS insert done as well?
No just the plain sight, with Liquid Paper on the front sight (yes, +$1000 shotgun with $2 Liquid paper/correction fluid)

                Thanks!

I just took a beater 870 sent the barrel to them for the VCS. Had a local gunsmith put some wilson combat[ i think] sights on it, then i duracoated it myself in the OD. Killed at least a dozen turkeys with it a yote and some pigs. It shoots sweet.

I forgot to mention one problem I did have was an ejection issue. But polishing the chamber and dremmeling off a burr on this barrel took care of the issue. I don't blame VCS though. The rough chamber and burr was from Remington, and their more recent lack of quality control. This seems to be a problem lately with Remington 870's.

El Gato, have your buddy get a list of all the LE agencies that field VC guns. There are a bunch. Maybe if the Sheriff sees that other agencies and not just his deputies love this gun, he may things in a different light.
