    Vang Comp

considering picking up a VCS barrel with ports for my Remington 870. Maybe even add Vang comp ghost ring sights while I'm at it.

Just wondering if anyone out there has a similar setup and what kind of results they are getting...

Had a friend do it to his Remmy. Amazing difference. Basically allows same tightening of groups you would expect to see from Federal flight control using regular buckshot. It does what it says it does.
RIP Louis Awerbuck. I miss you and your training.

Is the barrel your looking at cost more than the shotgun? I couldn't get a returned phone call when I wanted to do mine.

Yeah it looks to be a bit on the pricey side but well worth it from what I've heard. I havn't contacted them yet, was just planning on sending an email.

Right now I've got the normal beaded sight with a mesa tactical recoil reducing stock. Shoots great but I'd really like to get some ghost ring sights on there. I figured maybe I'd pick up the barrel and have them silver solder on the front sight so i don't have to deal with drilling and tapping it.

It is a nice piece. I've shot 14" models that were more accurate than longer tubed guns. And the recoil was less on the 14" VC too.

But for more that the price of another shotty I figured it was a sign from above when they didn't call back.

They currently have a sale on 870 barrels with VCS and ports for $220.

              Saw that. Very tempting.

I have the Vang Comp barrel and the Ghost ring sights (MMC) installed by Vang Comp. The lack of muzzle lift is pretty remarkable. The recoil reduction to me isn't too noticeable (the Knoxx stock on the other hand, has a very dramatic reduction). The groups certainly tightened up after getting the Vang Comp barrel, but since I don't have another shotgun, I don't have anything to compare this to anymore.

For me the package was worth it, mainly for the good job they did installing the ghost rings. Plus, I am still amazed how little muzzle lift I have, and at how much my sights still stay on target for a 12 gauge, even with slugs.

Did you send them your receiver to have the rear sights installed?
This is the one I'm considering:

Probably won't use optics but i figure it can't hurt if I ever change my mind.

I put one on my turkey gun a couple years ago. I could be a spokesperson for them. Ive killed everything ive ever shot at with it, and i mean it just hammers them.

Yes, I shipped my receiver via UPS and because it is a long arm, the mailing restrictions are not as difficult as if you were mailing a handgun. The wait time is about a month maybe longer.

The weirdest thing is coming home and finding a shotgun left behind on the porch in a UPS box.

Their work was great, and the sights were pretty much zeroed out of the box.

Nice! That's exactly what I was wondering. I initially thought they may have to send it to an FFL but guess not. Think I'm gonna go for it.

You won't need to go through a FFL to send the receiver, just give Vang Comp a call in advance. Really pretty helpful guys on the phone. I think I spoke to Mr Vang twice on the phone, and he seems like a genuinely good guy.

                          Almost forgot:
For a little extra money, buy their stainless steel magazine follower. My express came with a cheap plastic one.

However, don't buy their oversized safety tang, if you ever plan on putting a Knoxx Op stock. They aren't compatible.

Was mostly thinking that having the gun returned might require FFL. But thanks for all the info. I'll definitely be giving them a call soon.

Nope. It was sitting on my front porch. Thank you UPS.
