    SureFire Forends

SureFire recently released several new versions of their forend replacement weapon light for the Remington 870. They now offer...

    2 incandescent versions:
    - 618FA
    - 618FGA

    6 LED versions:
    - 318LM*
    - 318LMG*
    - 618LF
    - 618LFG
    - 618LM*
    - 618LMG*

    * New

See this URL for complete details - http://www.surefire.com/Remington870

Which one would you mount on your home defense shotgun and why?

Also, besides accomodating for a bayonet lug can anyone else think of other uses for the various lengths?

I would take LED over incandescent, especially with the brutal recoil of a 12 gauge pump.

I also like the additional disable feature -- there may be times when you wish to ensure the light will not come on.

As far as lumen output, perhaps consider the likely scenarios where you might use it. If it's always indoors in your home the high lumen versions could be overkill depending on your home's layout. If potential use outdoors, the extra lumens will be handy.

How is it holding up for you? I also have an incandescent (bought it before LED was an option) and want to upgrade to LED. I'm a little worried about just dropping in an LED bulb because on the surefire website it has a warning that doing this could damage the weapon light. They want you to buy the $90 upgrade which includes a new bezel.

i bought the 618LF about 2 years ago, very happy with it. If you have an extended magazine tube then the length of the light may come into play, as the bottom of the tube will block out some of the light.

works fine. a bit tight.. i can't imagine how it can possible damage a weapon?

let me give you an example of how it is holding up. like i said before it is a bit tight. so in order to pop out the bulb. i had to unscrew the body from the forearm, unscrew the bezel. stick a screw driver into the body touching the back of the bulb. slammed it against the carpet a few times to get it lose. still works fine slamming against carpet is def wayyyyy more shock than a 12 gauge...
