Remington 870 Home Defense AMMO??

I'll have to look for the LE low recoil Buck. I have a bunch of the Winchester Super X, because it's cheap at Walmart.Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

At home defense distance anything coming out of your shotgun can kill, even a empty shell with just the wad will kill.
Don't over think it, I just bought whatever cheap 00 buck they had on sale.Comment

I'd actually expect to use the butt of my shotgun more than the trigger in a home defense confrontation.Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. Well at a close enough range
I mean a guy was killed by getting shot with cigarette butts. And in that youtube video posted by daveinwoodland earlier in this thread you can see the wadding puts a pretty good dent in the car door.
Maybe I phrased it wrong, should have said, anything COULD kill, not will. My point was that at home defense ranges just about any traditional shotgun load will be effective, and I wouldn't put to much thought into it, just buy some buckshot and forget about it, when your adrenaline is going you wont even notice the recoil.Comment

Are any of the ammos mentioned above brass plated? Or are they full brass? I bought some cheap 00 buck from walmart and they're brass plated :| Still waiting for the LE-132 00 to get in stock.
Btw any major differences between the LE-133 00 8 Pellet vs 9 pellet LE-132 00?

Federal low recoil 00 buck 9 Pellet
Cheap & effective... http://www.ombexpress.com/c_283/p_AM769.aspx I bought a case when they had a $120.00 delivered special
7 / 15 / 20 yards out of 14" Remy 870 w/brake

The middle target had tape blow off some 9mm holes. The 20 yard target is 6"X7" pattern- Jim @ dvcguns.comComment

I roll my own 00 buck these days. A lot cheaper than anywhere else!
One poster said get anything in 00 Buck and you are fine. I agree with him. I have taken the time to thoroughly test my loads against a lot of the gucci-mall-ninja approved stuff, and the cheapest stuff I could buy as well. I really do not see a great deal of difference in performance at 15 feet, out to 50 yards. The high end police stuff held a tighter pattern at the longer distances, but only by a couple of inches.
Seriously, 00 Buck or BB are great loads for home defense. If you live in a house that only has ten feet of separation from your neighbor, stick to BB. 00 Buck does penetrate nicely, and I was able to blow through a section of stuccoed wall that was removed from my house during a remodel.
BTW; Low recoil rounds are made either by using slower burning powder, or by reducing the powder charge. both equate to a lower pellet velocity, at least in my experience.
Good Luck, and you can NEVER, EVER, have too much 12Ga ammo.
7200 rounds and counting.Comment

The federal in the link. I bought it from OMB about 3 months ago on sale for $120ish delivered.
