870 surefire WeaponLight 618FA LED upgrade?

    Hi Guys,

Do you know know a cheap upgrade to make this bulb led? I know that most of the aftermarket led upgrades work fine in surefire bodies. Anyone try one or know one that will fit?

    Thanks!

I put the Surefire one in and it works awesome. I don't recall it being that expensive. $25-30 and it's quite a bit brighter.

I have used some of the cheap aftermarket LED upgrades in some of my handheld flashlights and they work well.

For mission-critical kit like a weapon mounted light I prefer to stick to 100% Surefire. And a shotgun will, in particular, beat the **** out of anything attached to it!

According to Surefire you should use the conversion kit, $90.

I haven't done it yet because my current bulb still works and I have a spare. I think that once I need a new bulb is when I will make the switch.

I used this one but maybe your light is different than mine.

I have a Surefire on my 870 and it wouldn't keep bulbs in it for very long. No problems since the install of the LED.

ive always wondered, if you use the regular incandescent light on a shotgun from surefire, does the filament or bulb break because of the recoil and racking of the gun from shooting a lot of rounds through it?

I've got a xenon bulb on my Surefire fore end... hasn't gone kerfuffle yet. Got a few hundred rounds down the pipe. I have a 6P that I need to replace the bulb in and have been considering picking up a Cree LED unit if I could find one stocked on shore. I get nervous buying stuff sent from Hong Kong.

Cheaper than Dirt runs the Surefire OEM conversion unit out at $49 per.

If the Surefire OEM unit is available elsewhere for less, I'd be happy to see a link.

I'm sure it would work fine by just changing the bulb, but Surefire says the bezel is different and that if you only change the bulb it will void the warranty.

Go with a Malkoff Devices P60 dropin, there is a few to choose from depending on your application and the specs you want and all are tougher and brighter than the original surefires. These work in all Surefire lights that take a P60 or P90 dropin.

what i was thinking of was just changing the bulb.
when there was that ebay deal that people were getting on calguns for the surefire flashlights people all recommended to just buy the 10 dollar led bulb and use it.

My bulb used to blow out all the time on my Moss 500 with the surefire forend with regular shooting. I even had the entire forend replaced from Surefire thinking it may have been defective. Still no dice. Now they market their Shotgun Forends with the "Recoil-Proof LED Emitter" I suggest upgrading to an LED.

My original bulb (P60) is still going strong after 4 years and close to 1000 rounds. Of course now that I said that it is probably going to burn out

The Surefire LED is brighter than the standard bulb.

Mine went from 60 to 80 lumens with the conversion.
