    Knoxx vs Limbsaver

Anyone ever done a head to head same day, same shooter, same load comparison? I'm near the end of an 870 build and need to get some recoil reduction incorporated. So far I've added: Surefire fore end, Wilson Combat 2 shot mag extension and 6 shot side saddle and scattergun ghost ring sights. This was an off the shelf 870 with an 18 in barrel.

Now, with mods its 9.2 pounds. I don't mind the weight and will be adding a sling but I think its front heavy and a little unbalanced. So, I'm thinking of adding a speed feed 4 shell stock or adding a 6 shell stock side saddle or a Knoxx. I think the back of the gun needs weight to balance it out.

I don't really like the looks of the Knoxx but from accounts here I'll probably like the reduced recoil. Anyone know the weight diff b/w a regular 870 stock and a Knoxx recoil reduction stock? Anyway to easily add shell storage to a Knoxx?

dont know about reduced felt recoil comparison, but I have just a normal AR buttstock with a rubber padding in the back. I've mounted a Tri-rail up front making the tip a little heavy but man it sure helps with muzzle climb. Also, helps reduce a little recoil since all the weight is up front but recoil hasnt been a issue with me. I shot a 12g when I was 11 years old...I guess I got use to it?

I have done head-to-head comparisons of the Blackhawk KNOXX SpecOps stock and the Limbsaver recoil pad... Suffice to say, when used correctly the Blackhawk KNOXX SpecOps stock is superior to the Limbsaver recoil pad in terms of felt recoil reduction.

Also, the Blackhawk KNOXX PowerPak is a ready made add-on for the Blackhawk KNOXX SpecOps stock. The PowerPak provides a 5-shell holder, high/low cheek piece, and spare battery storage compartment.

The Knoxx will help with the balancing, its definitely not a light piece like some an Ati Stock (especially if you add the Powerpack with shells on it) Speedfeed stocks are nice because they are simple however nothing I shot so far can compare to the recoil reduction of the Knoxx. You truly can shoot slugs all day and not be in pain.

I've not tried the Limbsaver but I do like my Knoxx on my Moss. Here is the shell holder installed, other side has the spare battery tube.

It was not hard to install. Not snap on simple but not hard. It requires a long round head allen wrench. I could not find them individually so I had to buy a whole set of T-wrenches for around $40.

I absolutely love mine. Balance is always going to be front heavy on a shotgun. Not sure you can get away from that unless you tape a brick to your stock.

Both wortless!. Shotguns needs solid stocks unless your a breacher that demands differently.
If you are hurting your shoulder, you are holding/shooting wrong. Bottomline.
Nothing to to do with the gun.
Pistol grips will also interfer with running the shotgun the most effecient way.
People tend to f up perfectly gun weapons to make them cooler!

And the bead sight is all you need. Forget about the adjustable stuff. It ALL comes loose.

We just had a tiny asian chick shoot 500 rds in 2 days with no issues. She shot slugs and 00. She held her shotgun perfectly.

There was another 240lb guy that was black and blue in his shoulder because he didnt listen. How embarrasing!

I have Knoxx with "power pack" on my Moss 590 and Love It! I love to shoot full power slugs and the system performs just as advertised. When fully loaded (read 5 shells in the power pack and 9 in the tube) it balances very good. I say 50-50 balance between the front and back when you put your finger under the trigger guard.

                  Hope it helps

The stock recoil pad on my 12 gauge Mossberg 500 was horrible. I purchased a Limbsaver pad ($42 something shipped form midway) and couldn't be happier with it.

I have a problem with my shoulder and chest and I can now shoot magnum buckshot without worry about not being able to move for the next few days.

I was thinking about getting the Compstock, not the M4 style stock, but I'm perfectly happy with the Limbsaver pad for now.

thanks for your thoughts. I do agree there is a certain way to shoot. what is your suggestion?

I need the adjustable for my wife to shoot. that is was I am thinking why I am interested in adjustable stock.

Perfect HD set up for a shotgun for me is:

a light that can be used attached to gun while opening doors

a shell carrier attached to the receiver. Why attached to the receiver? Properly running a shotgun means constantly feeding it, and the best way to feed it with shells attached to the gun is one handed using your "weak" hand. While cool looking, shells next to your face on a stock on the right side would be cumbersome for ME (not necessarily saying it's cumbersome for the owner of that shotgun).

Anything else is not needed. Bead is fine, regular stock is fine. Some may like the pistol grip as it may be easier for them to hold up the weapon one-handed.
                        Never water another man's whiskey.

If you are implying that people shoulders hurt only because they are shooting/holding the gun wrong and that accessories are worthless I have to disagree with your opinion on this. When it comes to accessories for guns, its different strokes for different folks. All the OP wanted was some input on which stock might be better and the pro's and cons. Here's this for a fact, I've shot 1000+ (lost count) of Slugs and 00 through my Moss 500 with a Knoxx stock, Speedfeed, Hogue overmold, and OE Mossberg stock. My opinion with the Knoxx, I can shoot all day no pain from recoil. With the other stocks, there is noticeably more recoil and I do actually feel pain over time. If that is an indication that I'm a bad shooter and that can be corrected, then great. However shooting with the Knoxx now (even with improper form of holding/shooting) I can shoot w/o pain, with Very low recoil. Now is a stock like this worthless? To me, in terms of recoil, not at all, that is why I have to speak up for the Knoxx and other accessories that may aid a shooter(no i do not work for Knoxx ) sure some work, some do not, what you may call worthless, is a godsend for me. In the end there is no one "right way", can that asian girl shoot a slug through a mossberg with one hand, sure not advisable nor efficient, but with a Knoxx I can that has to says alot in terms of recoil reduction. To each his own we can both agree to disagree.
