good range in san diego area

i am in national city i live about 8 mins from the naval base on 32 nd street. the walmarts down here dont carry ammo from what i have seen. if someone knows of one close around here would be great thanks

The outdoor ranges (some private) are open to the public for shotgun activities (trap and related clay sports) a couple of days/evenings a week and you can shoot a round or ask one if they will let you pattern it first against some cardboard before you start.

it is still a good idea to become familiar with it before you shoot with others, but the best fun with it will be shooting clays rather than the bad guy silhouette at the indoor range.

There is a tactical shotgun match next Sunday (Jan 31st, and every 5th Sunday) at the Lemon Grove gun club (Lakeside-ish). It's a private range but the matches are public. $12 + 75rds of birdshot (#7.5 or finer). It's a total blast, definitely gets you some practice loading your gun under pressure. Show up, you won't be sorry.

Although P2K is expensive they are the closest range that allows steel core. IIRC Iron SIghts and ASC do not. DGM is pistol caliber only.

Iron Sights definitely does not. They also do not allow steel-cased, .300WM and .410 (?!).

i went to asc on sat and it was great. they helped me learn about my shotgun and it was fun did 100 shots. thanks

the only problems i had was from double feed due to me not pushing the shells all the way in the tube. so it just stiff the guy says but it worked great other wise

That's one of the things about pump-action shotguns you should learn -- don't be afraid to manhandle your pump. A lot of beginners make that mistake. Working the action too softly results in double-feeds/misfeeds and jam the gun. I may come down next Sunday as I won't be moving then () and can show you some stuff then. In fact, we may be able to make it a Calguns event.

project 2000 for the win. Very friendly staff, always helpful and a great facility for closer range to 100 yard shooting. ASC workers are a bunch of ****heads. They give wayy too much attitude. DGM is ok if you just want to shoot pistols or any pistol calibers.
