well i just picked up my first shot gun iac 982 and before all the baching over where is made and all its all i could afford and i looked for used ones and found this to be the best deal since i do have a family to support and im in the military so i do make alot of money. i go to discount mart to shoot my hand guns but where is a good place for shotguns? also i have only shot a shotgun once in my life and that was boot camp and they did not even have us aim it was more of a safety thing. so i will be needing some help because all i know how to do with it is load and shoot it. i know a hd gun so im not looking for great accuracy but i want to feel confortable if i ever needed to use it. thanks

You bought a shotgun made in China?!?! Whats wrong with you?
It must be a POS!
hah.. now we have that out of the way..
I just got one myself on sale at Big 5 and it seems pretty solid. Ill wait till I have a few hundred rounds though it to make any judgements.
Iron Sights is one of the better indoor ranges around..if you want to drive to Oceanside. Military discounts (not that you need one since you "do make a lot of money")
, you can shoot bird shot, and I think they have shotgun classes. They have a website.
Outdoors, I go to Orosco Ridge in Ramona or just drive out to the desert.

Palomar Ranger District 760-788-0250
Go through Ramona on the 67, take a left on Magnolia and go about a mile, pass Pile, and the Ranger station is on your left. Buy a $5 Forest Adventure day pass or a $30something dollar year pass. The shooting area is outdoors, on a hill up a long, winding, dirt road. You can ask for directions from there.
Have fun and make sure to clean up after yourself.. the place is trashed enough as it is.All systems failComment

No, it is just public land where discharge of a firearm is legal.
If you are looking for more assistance and practice I would try the trap range at project 2000. You can also shoot shotguns indoors there as well. You think you know, but you have no idea.

Karl9422 I would stock up on "low recoil" rounds (buckshots and slugs) for your shotgun. Would be a lot easier to practice with. It's cost a bit more but easier on the shoulder. Also birdshots would be another alternative
American Shooting Center, Iron Sights, and Project 2000 that has been mentioned by others. You can also try Soutbay Rod and Gun Club by Delzura. That's an open range I believe to shoot for one day is around $20 now. Use to be $7 back in the days.Comment

The bulk-packs you can get at Wal-mart are great, the Federal target loads.
If you're going to be at Iron-Sights or ASC let me know, I'd love to be there and help you out. It all depends upon what part of SD you're in to see what's closest."Ok, sign language 101. This means stay low, this means stack up, and this means I'm gonna punch your lights out if you don't shut up!"Comment
