    Win 1300 or 500 Tactical?

It'll be a home defense gun. It seems that with regards to reliability, the 500, 1300, and 870 are all as dependable as wood burning stoves. The 870 seems to be the most expensive of the three, and for my purposes, either the 1300 or the 500 will do.

I guess it boils down to what kind of grip is better for home defense, pistol or not. Any compelling arguments for either gun?

The Winchester 1300 is out of production, as I understand, so add-ons are harder to get. That said I have a 1300 and will never get rid of it. I managed to find a Knoxx recoil absorbing stock and it is darn near perfect.

The 1300 will be far slicker then even a worn in 500 and all but the nicest, old, warn in 870s - and maybe nicer then those.

Get a Defender - no need for any add ons. Put 7 rounds of your favorite home defense ammo in it and put it in the safe/corner/under the bed/pillow whatever.

I'd say that if you can find a 1300, get it. They are great guns, and feel so much smoother than the 500s.

No, I just missed one on the Private For Sale forum =( That said now, I'll keep a few hundred set aside if one ever shows up.

My defender lends itself to firing so damn fast. I have a 870 and it is nowhere near the smoothness of the 1300.

I can't speak to the 1300 b/c never used one

but for 870 vs 500, if you want to trick it out, start with the 870, if you want to leave stock, 500 does just fine !

I love my 1300, I have two. My dad gave me one and I bought one on consignment at turners in 07' for $175 out the door.

Um... LA county. Had something in mind? I was hoping for something like this

Kinda annoyed that I missed out on it, but at least now I know it's a great gun =)
