I had the joy of shooting a vang comp a few weeks back, same setup as my m500. It's groups was 2x tighter then my stock barrel. For the price I think it's great! I don't mind putting a vcs on my m500 at all.

The guy i bought my vang from was so confident that I would like it he said he would buy it back if I wasn't happy.A man who hasn't found something he is willing to die for is not fit to live.

I donot advise anyone buying a 1600 pumpaction shotgun.Originally posted by compulsivegunbuyerI just could not bring myself to put that much into a 870. For a HD shotgun, it's likely you will be shooting at 20 feet or less. Plus, if you shoot someone in a HD defence situation, the cops are taking it.Comment

Actually, I have had the Benelli M3 for around 12 years. I hated to shoot it and was basically up for sale. The reason is the shotgun is extremly light - not heavy (?). I also have a Remington 11-87 Police that is not only a shotgun, but, without ammo serves as a solid club - the shotgun sports a nice weight to it. Also, the recoil of the 11-87 is very tolerable.
I have since, installed a recoil pad and took the M3 out to Front Sight for a 2-day Tactical Shotgun class. The recoil pad (Limbsaver) transformed the M3 from a shoulder buster, to a tame incredible shotgun aimed squarely at optimally performing tactical duties - I love it.
Now on to the thread...
I would say get the shotgun that you can afford and need. If you like the pump, get the 870 or Mossberg 590 is also a sweet shotgun - reasonable price too. I think for an auto, the 11-87 is hard to beat. Front Sight did have 2 or 3 M4s and the people were very happy with them. A great thing about the Benelli is you can selectively load a slug at any time - easily.

If your shotgun is fully loaded with '00' buck and you want to load for a slug shot - what do you do with your current shotgun? The Benelli has a magazine selector so you don't load a shell from the tube. You can pull the bolt back, ejecting the unspent '00' buck shell, then breach loading the slug shell. Specialized, yeah, but it is there in case you need it on the Benelli - kind of expensive if that is all you need.
Other shotguns would need to cycle two rounds out, install the slug into the tube, then cycle the slug into the chamber - typically. Remember, this is only if the tube is fully loaded.

If you're going to shoot 3 gun DO NOT buy an M4. There are worse choices but it's up there with them.Ask yourself what you are really going to do with this new shotgun.
Home defense? buy an 870. Why... ask the experts, semi autos are usually not as highly recommended due to the "possibility" of failure. More simple is better.
Are you going to shoot 3-gun? If so buy the M4 or any number of other top quality semi autos.
Bling factor? M4 all the way (make mine a desert camo)
Resale? M4 due to the limited availability.
I have a tricked out 870 Police and I'd love an M4 too but my 870 will remain my HD gun.I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.
When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.Comment
