I bit the bullet and purchased one from DD's Ranch today. Can't wait to get this in my hands. Didn't get the EOY sale price but what the heck $549.00 plus shipping. Now I've got to order an muzzle brake for it. Found some pretty cool ones at Carolina Shooter Supply.

Cool. I got a Saiga 12 in Nov. Love shooting it. Lots of fun. Start buying bulk shotgun shells from Walmart. You'll go through lots of ammo

Cool, once you get it, make sure you go out and test it before you start doing mods or a conversion. That way you make sure you didnt get one with improper gas holes drilled. You should be fine. But shoot it first.. Start off with some 00buck and then finish up with some Federal #7 birdshot from walmart.

You might want to go over to saiga 12 forums and pick up a choke adapter from a member named cobra tactical. i think mine was $60 for the adapter and a full choke. The brakes dont really work at the 19" inch mark as pressure is too low. Might as well have something on the end of your barrel that is doing something, but if you think the brake loooks cool then all is well.

nah, get a poly choke. you wont have to fiddly dink around with the muzzle anymore, and the new polychokes are vented so you can blow your buddies ears out when you fire with them to the side of you

for a couple bucks more than some "choke adapter", you can have every choke there is mounted on your gun all the time.


....and for the new saiga owners, steer clear of the 1`oz trap loads, and make sure you run 1 1/8oz trap loads.....these shotguns arent designed for weak loads and wont reliably cycle with "reduced recoil" or light 1oz shells.

You can take out the gas plug and use a bent paper clip to make sure your
gas holes are drilled all the way through and are lined up properly.
My gun is a healthy 3-port and it cycles everything except light Winchester
loads. Get the Federal packs at Walmart, they are definately the best out of the 3 chioces. The MD arms improved gas plug is a good investment, and Id also recommend the poly-choke. I went with the russian style 10 slot flash hider which looks great, but wish Id spent a little more money on the poly choke.

+1 on the PolyChoke Recommendation.
It works great.
* The only comment I'd make is when you first install it, don't twist the top part that adjust the choke too much until you get a chance to take it out and fire it.
* I did and ended up getting it stuck in a position tighter than "full choke".
* When I called the polychoke folks, they told me just to fire off a magazine of shot and that will loosen up the threads.
* They were right. After the first magazine of shells, i can now adjust the choke up and down with my fingers easily depending on if I'm shooting slugs or bird shot.

Totally worth the price.
