For starters, the Remington receiver is heavier and the Mossy is lighter, either alloy or aluminum (forget which).

The Mossberg is an aluminum receiver. Way less weighty than an 870. That's going to increase your perceived recoil. If I've been handling / firing my 870 Police for a bit and then pick up my Mossberg 500 it's like the difference between a barbell and a little league bat. But I enjoy shooting them both.

If you want pistol grip only, go for the Knoxx Breacher's Grip. It really works.
