    winchester ammo problems

Shot a couple boxes of these at the range. The shells would not eject from the chamber of my single shot. Had to use a cleaning rod to get 'em out each time. People thought i was shoting a muzzle loader, lol. So i bought another brand and it ejected with ease. Is winchester a low quality ammo? Anyone else have problems with it?

i had this same exact problem yesterday with both win superx and win universal shot shells. i had to hold the pump and slam the butt down onto my foot to get the round out. this was with a remi 870 12 gauge. now with my browning bps20 i shoot these shells with absolutely no probs. so that leads me to believe it is just a certain weapon being finiky about ammo.

Some guns have issues with the steel base. Most do not have issues with the brass base.

Revo is right some guns just can't eject certain bullets/shells.

Had this issue before as well, but in a similar thread, it was decided that this was a "new shotgun" syndrome. The burrs inside the gun along with the heat caused the shell to get stuck. Anyone feel this may still be the case?

Could be a combination of the 2. I had this problem with a new pump, almost every brand of "low-brass" would stick. When I cranked on the action, the extractor would let go and leave the fired shell in the chamber. I sent it back to the factory and they replaced the extractors and extractor springs. It got better but still happened. Then I bought a "flex hone" and polished the chamber. Now it never happens unless I used the steel based Winchester (about 1 or 2x per box).

At one point I was so frustrated by this issue that I actually got several different brands of ammo and did some testing. I measured the diameter of the shells before and after firing. It seems that the steel cased ones either expand more (unlikely) or the brass ones recoil more. The steel ones had a larger diameter after firing.

I guess shotguns are just like other guns and can be picky about the ammo.

Winchester 20 ga sport load shells

On the skeet range the other day my Remington 1100 failed to eject about 75% of the time. I figured I had done a poor job of cleaning but on my next time on the range I had the same problem; again I felt it was a gun cleaning problem until one of my club members asked what ammo. I was using and gave me some of his Remington --- problem solved.
Since this initial problem I cycled more of this Winchester sport load through my Beretta 912 and again I experienced ejection problems.
I don't know if anyone else has had this problem but I am hearing Walmart is having this ammo. especially for them; that's where I bought it.

Guns like people have indigestion too, just see what ammo your gun likes and you'll have a happy gun. A happy gun means better scores !!!

The Winchester Universal has caused FTF post on blogs like then any ammo out there. I noticed the box of game loads in the OP's picture has the same cheap base on the them. That is the issue. I still shoot this mess when I test fire my custom builds. Not just for cost but if I put a weapons out of my shop that is cycling this cheap crap then the client can shoot anything without issue.

After reading plenty of Winchester problems I stick with Federal for my 870 synthetic. Smooth!

If you're buying the value pack ammo at WalMart, buy the Fed's or Rem's. They seem to work better for a lot of people.

I had problems with the Winchester shells and no problem with remington.
