So your mossberg didn't just fall apart or something, it wore out after years of use? Anything will wear out after enough use, and yeah, you probably could have repaired it.

I called around and most big 5's didn't have it in stock and in the one that did the manager claimed it was "illegal" to give it to me for $199 the last sale price, instead of the current $299. So they aren't as available as some calgunners would have you believe.

Also I handled the CD 12g that was $239 because it did not have ghost rings. I really like the weight and overall handling of the gun. I was actually going to buy it over the 500 combo, but the two barrels won me over.

It had a couple thousand rounds thru it when it starting having issues. I think for the price it was worth it. My vintage 870 Wingmaster has easily 5 times that thru it and it hasn't failed once. My brother even dropped it overboard and it took him an entire day to find it. After recoving it he took it down to the smallest part or screw, oiled it up, reassembled it, and it still works 100%. Something to remember is that the Wingmaster isn't the base model 870 express that you buy on the cheap.

I just got back from my friends place who recently took home his CD tactical and it really is a nicely finished shotgun and the action is silky smooth. I'm hoping it turns out to be a good reliabler shooter.

Well, I shot my friends two new CD pump shotguns and both worked perfectly. I expect mine to be the same.

I'm going to have to say that these are a darn good value!
