    Home Defense 12ga?

While I do own a limited about of #4 buck and Hevi-Metal1.5oz #2 shells, (for predator calling) I'm sitting on a crap ton of BB. Wouldn't 3" BBs be perfect for HD ammo? Using a Mossberg semi-auto.

Also looking for a locking wall mounted shotgun holder that covers the trigger. Closest thing I found was Hornady Rapid Safe Shotgun Wall Mount Lock w/ RFID but the trigger is exposed. Anyone found something like this?

Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

The U.S. city with the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, Washington, D.C., has the highest murder rate at 24 per 100,000.
The state with the most unrestrictive gun regulations, Vermont, has the lowest murder rate at 0.48 per 100,000.

Likely inadequate penetration with the added penalty of increased recoil and reduced capacity. #4 Buck for the win.

      IMO...

I would not rely on or recommend using bird shot for self-defense.
Although bird shot makes a lot of superficial damage, it lacks the penetration to effectively stop a motivated aggressor and in order to be effective, accuracy and shot placement is very important (head shots only).

#4 buck shot is the smallest sized shot load acceptable for self-defense.

I stick with #00 buck shot because its what I'm used to and know will work in my shotguns.

Whatever you end up wanting to use for self-defense, test it in the firearm you intend to use, in order to determine if the ammo is reliable with your firearm.

No smaller than #4 for HD. Even then that's pushing it.

Thank you, ShotLock ordered and am now shopping for 00. Is there a right and wrong way to load mixed shells (law enforcement style for clearing rooms) or is it strictly personal preference? I can carry quite a few.

Also will be using this gun for SD in grizz country and am considering options for a low profile light and rear sight but damn there's a lot of choices! The ghost ring doesn't excite me and I'm unsure about an RDS. If you were carrying this for for variety of applications from 3 gun to birds to HD and SD...what would you consider using? Need a bright beam that can reach out 100 yards and easily removed.

                  1) you have a mess of a google tracking / session thing going on in this post if you tried to post an image in it.

                  2) the wrong way is to over-complicate things.

I don't have anything on a Wall mount as mine sit in the corner next to my bed with a piece of Kleenex draped over the muzzle and covering the light so it doesn't get filled with dust.

I use low recoil buckshot and slugs. Still works.

I have double ought buck in my shotgun with slugs and more 00 in the Velcro holder. I have plenty of birdshot but would only use that if I ran out of my first choices.

Not seeing the info I need regarding rear sight options and interaction with a light. I've read about problems with glass glare and light transmission on some RDS models. Not sure what direction to go regarding these.
