Remember to keep in mind that CA assault weapons laws for shotguns is similar to that of rifles but different. What may be CA legal for rifles, could be CA illegal for shotguns.

In order to be CA legal as a semi-auto shotgun:
    1. It must have a minimum barrel length of 18". [PC 17180(a)]
    2. It must have a minimum overall length of 26". [PC 17180(b)]
    3. It must operate using a fixed magazine. [PC 30515(a)(7)]
    4. It cannot have a folding/telescoping stock and a pistol grip or any type of vertical grip or a thumbhole stock. [PC 30515(a)(6)]

      $1800 for a AR 12g upper???

Hard pass. I?ll just buy a M4 Benelli or spend the money making a saiga 12 ultra reliable.

lol it is pricey but better maglocked than a Saiga. Plus had one, sold it.

Upper in op is 18 in and would be using a juggernaut tactical fixed mag kit. Those are covered

If you want a pistol grip or any type of vertical grip on it, then it will need to have a fixed stock.

The most common misconception about semi-auto shotguns being legal in CA is the belief that because it has a fixed magazine then it can legally have a folding/telescoping stock and pistol grip.

The fact is even with a fixed magazine, a semi-auto shotgun have both of those features (folding/telescoping stock & pistol grip) makes the firearm into an illegal assault weapon.

Quiet is spot on. The AW law regarding shotguns is why you don?t see the Benelli M1014 with adjustable stock for sale in CA and why if you buy said stock, you?ve essentially violated CA AW laws.

              YMMV

the whole point of the genesis 12 is that it's short and full auto. both of these features are removed by ca law making it completely pointless

                    https://genesisarms.com/18-gen-12-upper/
                    AFAIK...

Per Genesis Arms, circa SHOT Show 2022, the upper is only compatible on their GEN-12 lower and on the DPMS AR308 (LR308/DP10) Gen 1 lower.

Note that there are two different type of DPMS AR308 lowers, a Gen 1 and a Gen 2.
The DPMS Gen 1 receivers are not compatible with the DPMS Gen 2 receivers and vice-versa.
To make matters worse, DPMS used the same markings on both their Gen 1 and Gen 2 receivers. So, using the markings to try and differentiate the two Gens is not possible.
So, take care on which DPMS lower you acquire.

Ar15 and ak were designed with full auto in mind as well and they took off as semi auto.

Edit: well the full auto thing is federal not just ca. since well 86. And this gun is a recent thing.

Can't you guys buy the whole gun?

This one is short barreled, but the full length should shoot almost the same.

Except for the full semi-auto bit.
