    Rust proof hunting shotgun?

I?m looking for a pump action 12ga to replace my rusted out Remington 870 Wingmaster.
    Want something with 28? barrel.

Any recommendations? Any pumps with a 28? stainless barrel?
Will I have to worry about rust prevention if I go with an 835 Ulti-mag Waterfowl?

Guns have only 2 enemies. Politicians and rust. Neither sleeps.

A few different coatings/platings, but no SS shotguns I'm aware of. .Mil thinks Parkerizing is one of the best.

Renaissance wax before the hunt followed by aerosol CLP wipe down after. I wax all my wood on mine and take the wood off after to get the metal under it. Not really an issue especially on a hunting shotgun.

I've got a 1970s 870 and 1100 that were my dad's and he used the crap out of it in duck blinds and no rust.

Obviously the proper calguns answer is to buy 2 extra shotguns just in case lol.

Huh. Alright what about buying one of Maritime/Marine-coat shotguns then buying a 28” barrel for it and having it Parkerized?

There’s got to be a way to have a near zero maintenance shotgun.
My AR’s and Glocks get used and abused and I never have any problems or rust.

I just searched the web and found many. Most were short barreled. Remember the metal is called "stainLESS" NOT Stainproof. It can rust. Minimal maintenance is required.

No such thing as a free lunch when it comes to rust. I have a 870 that chronically rusted if you even just looked at it. Rattle canned it and haven’t had any issues since. If you’re opposed to rattle can just send your current gun out for cerekote treatment. Absolutely no need for a new gun. With a decent rattle can or cerekote job it will be about rust resistant as anything new purposely built to resist rust.

Look at Wilson combat. They refurbish shotguns and can add a coating they claim is very good. They are the higher end for this kind of work but plenty of places will do something similar for cheaper.

I’ll definitely consider buying your rusted out wing master for a fair price if you really want to ditch it. I like a good project gun.

IIRC, the Benelli H2O has SS springs and treated internal to the receiver. TMK only made in 18.5. But a longer barrel could be treated and installed. The barrel is the easiest to protect.

                Have your 870 cerakoted.

Add a spray down of this product to your cleaning ritual and no gun will rust.

It's a seriously amazing product developed to treat aircraft pulled from salt water originally.

I would think Cerakoting would probably be a good solution to this. I know people who have done this and it?s worked well for them.

Not really relevant but I’ve only seen one all stainless steel shotgun for hunting before and that was a Ruger red label over under that was made in limited amounts years ago.

I have a feeling cerekote would work better than stainless. Very few parts of the gun are stainless while it?s easier to cerekote most of the parts. The places that tend to rust are where the metal is dissimilar.

I’d stick with the 870 platform and do a cool rust resistant build. I’m sure someone makes coated springs and trigger groups.

I have 75 year old rifles and shotguns with no rust. Now I use same old terry cloth towel with syn oil and clp in it. Spray firearm lightly with rem gun oil after washing mud off with dishwater. Then wipe whole gun down and put away. Lighlty oil moving parts,
