Saiga 12 not working, need help?

I went to Angeles Range to test fire my newly converted Saiga 12. Anyways, i cleaned and lubed my Saiga prior to hitting the range.
I loaded my saiga with Federal slugs becus i figured i would shoot something with enough power since it was new. Well i put the mag in, loaded the saiga and shot. Bang, 1 shot and would not eject. Every shot i tried, it would only shoot the firt one out and then a FTE. wouldnt even eject the 1st round. I tried the original mag and an AGP 10 mag, not the mags. I tried some buckshot and slugs, all were Federal still FTE. I remembered reading about the "vodka specials" that didnt have proper gas port drillings. So we popped out the gas valve, looked down into it and there were 3 holes, one of the holes had a tiny hole that allowed a paper clip to go through, but just barely and the other two holes were drilled but not all the way through. We put the paper clip into the holes and kept poking to see if they were just clogged and the paperclip actually opened up the 2 other holes. but they didnt seem to be clogged, more like they werent drilled all the way through and we just pretty much finished the job by poking with the paperclip. Anyways, after poking out the holes with a clip, we put it back together, i cleaned out the bore, loaded slugs and tried again. this time i was able to pop off 2 rounds but the 2nd round FTE again. So we tried again and then it went back to shooting 1st round only with a FTE. Anyways, i have the Cadiz email and address but will they work on my saiga if it was already converted? Do you guys think its FTE becus of the hole not being properly drilled. How big should those holes be? Does anybody have the number to Cadiz so i can ask if it can be covered under warranty or even if i could pay $ to have it fixed. All i want is a Saiga 12 that works with every load. $1500 single shot.

they take a while to be "broken in",
on mine I cleaned up the wholes before even taking it out,
and polished the internals, even then the first box still had some FTEs.
It got better as we shot it more, by the third box it was running almost perfectly. We where shooting birdshot by the way, not even slugs.
Some people recommend running 100-200 slugs to break them it at first.

With right tools you can fix the holes yourself, on mine I was able to see 2 holes and with a flash light shining I was able to tell there where 3, when I took it apart I found out I actually had 4. I made the hole on the gas block bigger and made the holes slightly larger, very little, did it with a small file.

I can understand having alot of FTE but not the whole time, and especially using slugs and i even tried both gas settings? I didnt want to fix it myself becus i feel if you buy a gun, it should shoot right out of the box. And thats why i was using slugs, so i wouldnt have any malfunctions and it would break in good enough to use birdshot. Thanks for the info though, if all else fails, i guess i will do it myself. It doesnt look that hard but i dont wanna F up anything.

yeh, slugs malfunctioning ESPECIALLY on gas setting 2 is not normal.

Saiga 12's are notorious for doing this. It needs a break in. The cheap way would be to keep manually cycling each shot for a while.

Warranty service on vodka specials is done free of charge. If the new after market internals arent installed correctly, then there will be a fee involved with fixing that, but still, if the gun doesnt fire slugs on either gas setting out of the box, converted or no, there has to be some sort of gas issue with it.

With free warranty from BVamp, you're good to go. I know it's only anecdotal, but my Saiga 12 did not require a break in period; it was reliable straight from the box.

Thats what i was hoping for, right out of the box. OH well no biggy, as long as it works after repair. I waited forever to buy it and have it converted anyways.

the actual percentage of guns with gas issues is actually quite small. Clyde is bringing them in and saturating the market with them, so there are a large number of them currently in the US. Dont let the "vodka special" guns (if every new owner posted "my gun works fine" youd have a massive amount of that very post) give you the impression that this is common, or anywhere near the norm on these guns.

His gun should still run 2 3/4" slugs......I run 2 3/4" slugs and 3" buck down mine. no problem. the slugs shouldnt be giving him a problem. period.

yea they should period but at times during break in the 2 3/4 shots get caught up for me in the break in period and anything in 3" cycled flawlessly
