I never really considered them outright impractical, but I did consider that for what they are they are indeed a bit of a niche firearm; if compactness is a concern a handgun usually fit's the bill better (or if you want to go way out of left field you still have some folks that treat the .45/.410 revolver's as the best "one shot stop" out there), and for the level of practice you need to sink into a Shockwave-type firearm to get good with one, a conventional shotgun is going to have a lower skill curve to it, never mind a 16-inch barreled pistol caliber or intermediate caliber carbine.

Definitely in agreement with you on that; if SBR/SBS laws weren't a thing, I'd be slamming my foot on the gas and buying up a bunch of semi-auto SMG-clones; semi-auto MP5, Vityaz, Thompson M1, MP-40, UMP with a stock and their original 8-12 inch barrel would be cleaning my bank account like no tomorrow.

As the owner of a 12" barrel AOW Remington 870, for me, pretty close to useless. Maybe if I was breeching doors on a SWAT squad? First order of business when I move to America will be to SBS it by putting a stock on it.
My new M&P 12 is only a few inches longer (I was curious when I got it home and laid them out side by side) than my than my AOW and is much more useful, holding 23 mini shells and having a decent shoulder weld. AOWs and Shockwaves just aren't that useful, at least for me.
Even as a range toy, you can't really shoot it like a pistol except from the hip and trying to point it by sighting down the barrel is just awkward and pointless.

Very similar to shooting an AR pistol without a brace, not very satisfying as the shotgun has quite a bit more recoil.

Your hand will definitely take a beating with a Shockwave no matter how you hold it.

I mean, as mentioned earlier I'd be all over them if SBR/SBS laws did not exist; but seeing as they do, combined with CO being half assed with regards to how willfully they enforce their 15-round mag cap and NFA territory entering a level of time, money and resources I'm just not ready to dump the funds into, makes it so at this point I'm more motivated to sink time and money into extra mags, ammunition, and reloading components is the better investment at this point in time.

Oh, and I already tried the pistol brace route; I can see why it's popular, but jesus whoever came up with the brace for the KP-9 must have a pyramid for a chin considering how much it slopes down and makes a cheek weld a PITA.

I guess that cheek pistols are also too crazy?

PS - shame that CA's laws also effectively put the kibosh on these. It'd be kinda fun to try out; get a chassis for my G17 and let 'er rip!

I got one of the Charles Daly Honchos in 20 gauge, because it was there. It's pretty stupid.
I did manage to break clays regularly with it, but overall I think it sucks.

But our Shockwave is an 18" model yeah? I think only the 14" version makes sense, if any. But with the onset of bullpups, the Shockwave is kinda niche.

If an Old Asian person can shoot a 18.5" shockwave no problem without a cheekweld, so can you.

(I think I traded/bought/sold with this guy. I mean it, looks so familiar.)
