Hd Bead Vs Rifle Sights

I have had 870's for bird hunting and trap and skeet and they had the ventilated rib with a bead and they worked fine. My 870 Police Magnum has a 20" barrel with rifle sights. I would want the rifle sights if I wanted to use slugs out to 50 yards. My eyes line up perfectly with the rifle sights.

It’s a home defense shotgun for Gods sake, point it and shoot. Shotguns are designed to be pointed, sites or bead does not make difference.

That would sound OK for the most part but have you considered taking a Hostage Shot with only a bead front sight? A Hostage Shot is a very real possibility in a HD Scenario.

Do you know exactly where your gun shoots at close range?

The hold on the Ear is where you shoot to avoid hitting the hostage. 2" to the right and you have a problem. Also this is a Vang Comped barrel so the pattern is very tight. A regular barrel will be patterning about 5" at 5 yards. That one glob of 8ea. 000 pellets is the pattern,,, all the other holes were from other shots.

So if you don't know exactly where your gun shoots with the bead front sight you might not want to pull the trigger? And if you're not sure about pulling the trigger,,, the Hostage just might die??? You will have about 1-2 seconds to make up your mind.

I have already made up my mind, and if this situation occurs I will be pulling the trigger as soon as my sights come to bare.

With Sights you can adjust them so the gun shoots to POA (like in Sighting the gun in?) and you'll know exactly where the gun shoots!

This is why you need the training I harp on so much.
