You say you've helped many people and then you crap all over the guy asking questions. My life is right!! And I have been shooting since I was a kid, But looks like op has been shooting already according to the pics, So do you shoot first and ask questions later? When maybe it's to late? And I have no problems helping anyone out have done it many times. And who are you to judge me?
This is a DISCUSSION forum. As experienced shooters, it's our responsibility to educate. Or else this, which is our way of life, is lost. If you can't figure it out, and you're more concerned with someone on the internet judging you, I suppose there's nothing I can do to convince you that your priorities are messed up.sigpic

If you're shooting a target vs. birds, then it's target shot...like the box says.
Targets (clays) is typically 7.5 - 9 in lead shot. 7 in steel.
"Birdshot" encompasses a wide range of shot size, depending on the birds being targeted. But generally, smaller than BB.Last edited by JagerDog; 12-27-2021, 1:25 AM.Palestine is a fake country

Your barrel cannot be 18" for clays. Do you have a home defense or hunting/ clays shotgun. What is barrel length. Minimum, at coyote valley morgan hill is 22"Last edited by edgerly779; 12-27-2021, 11:19 AM.Comment

PTA: Since we are Friends now,,, please take note of the Specifications on the bottom of the box shown above.
12 ga (Caliber) 2 3/4" (length of fired hull) 1200 FPS (Velocity, and these are mild loads.) 1 1/8oz (Weight of Shot Payload) and 7 1/2 (Size of the Shot.)
Note: that the box says "Clay Target and Field Load." This delineates what the ammo is intended use is.
There is not much more to this except to understand that there are a bunch of different loads available and all can be fired from your gun. However your gun is a Tactical Shotgun so only a few loads are appropriate for that gun. Your primary use for that gun will be Home Defense or Offense as the case may be. However in a pinch you could use it to shoot some birds for dinner but don't let anyone see you doing it. It is not appropriate for Shooting Clay Targets and most all venues won't let you in the door with it.
As I have mentioned many times here everyone needs to get training with the guns they own. In your case a trip to a Front Sight Tactical Shotgun Class will be the next step. You will learn about the various types of ammo and how to effectively use them. You will also learn how to operate your new gun effectively. There is more to it than "load and go bang." After you go to that 2 or 4 day class (preferably 4 days!) you will have a basic understanding of what you are doing. Then you need to start planning your next trip as you need a few trips thru that class to actually get good with the gun. Plus that,,, the classes are serious FUN!!!
Then there is "Continuing Education." And by that I mean going back as often as you can, or participating in local 3 gun competitions which will give some feel as to what it means to use the gun for it's intended purpose. And then there is Dry Practice which you can do at home and needs to be done at least once a week to keep your Muscle Memory in tact.
I would suggest a trip here https://www.frontsight.com/gun-training-manuals.asp for a Dry Practice Manual which will cover all aspects of your guns operation and use.
Your Glock is fine for use in a class with the .40 cal. Barrel. 10MM will get old fast and also cost you big $
Next you will need a Proper Carbine, and there are a zillion different opinions on what you should buy. You live in CA so I would avoid any of the Bastardized AR based rifles. A New Ruger Mini 14 Tactical is not Evil by CA;'s standards. This is a good one but on all of them you'll need to remove the "Flash Suppressor" and replace it with a Muzzle Brake or Thread Protector(blank ring that looks like a round nut) and get some 10 round magazines. https://www.ruger.com/products/mini1...eets/5831.html
Last, You need to grasp the idea that you are entering into a Lifestyle. And like any Lifestyle there is alot more to it than just dipping your toe in. Don't be a Namby Pamby and be satisfied with mediocrity, try to excel.! If you are going to do something/anything, strive to get as good as possible at what you are doing. Anything less is pointless.
I will leave you with this. There are two components to Craftsmanship (IE; doing anything right.)
1. Attention to Detail: Details matter and you need to develop a keen eye for them. It is pretty Self Explanatory but it applies to everything you do..
2. Personal Responsibility. is about not letting the substandard "anything" get past you!
Learn this and you'll go far and once again it applies to everything you do.
RandyRule #1 Liberals screw up everything they touch.

Rule #3 Liberals lie about anything no matter how insignificant.
Rule #4 If all else fails, they call you a Racist!
It's not how well you do what you know how to do,,, It is how well you do what you don't know how to do.
