Remington cratered and only recently has come back up, so I imagine that people that might otherwise have bought 870s over the last year or so increased the demand for Mossbergs.

Looks like a reasonable selection of defensive guns at grabagun right now:

And an 590S for under $500:

In my Post#3, I already referenced/indicated Mossberg lost a key owner/executive/family-member; and as someone else mentioned, we won't know to what extent that person dying has or will affect the company.

Also, the Covid-related supply chain issues are affecting many industries. Covid-related issues can also affect manufacturing operations as manufacturing employees can't merely work from home.

GalleryofGuns, a distributor, does show ~22 "skus" available from Mossberg, but no pump shotguns, and many of the skus appear to be off-roster polymer handguns.

I don't know what's holding up Mossberg or any other company's products, and only wish all the brands would come back someday-soon with immediate availability or quantities to allow us to readily buy firearms at lower prices (while not having to wear a mask, too)

Big 5 stopped carrying Mossbergs, I believe, and went with Citadel shotguns from Turkey. I passed along my 500 to my grandson after he used it on his first hunting trip. I planned on replacing it but haven't been able to find one in 12 GA. I did buy a used 20 GA from a friend who had 2 of them. I have nicer shotguns, but Mossbergs have been my "beat the brush" guns for quail and chukar and have never let me down.

Just a guess, but in February of last year there was a major ice storm in Texas.
It destroyed refineries that produced 90% of the worlds base materials for plastics. That's why there is a latex paint shortage, a polymer parts storage etc. It took 4 months to get the plant back on line and in the meantime, inventories have been cleaned out and they are still back ordered. This has produced a world wide plastics shortage.

Our business is facing major delays because of this. Construction sites are idle waiting for delayed parts. I've been waiting 6 months for a back ordered freezer part. Mossbergs have a lot of polymer parts. They may have been caught with their pants down with the perfect storm of supply chain issues and the spike in gun sales.

The Chevron facility in Port Arthur was nearly completely shut down during that ice storm. The power went out for a couple of days and some of our guys were stuck in hotels. There was no electricity and it was really bad news. I can imagine the refineries were the same way because not all of their electricity is generated in the Cogen unit.

BP: I have a set of wood furniture for a M500 that is in pretty good shape, Came off my Car gun. See what I did to my Shotguns Thread at the top of the page.

I also know where there is a nice M500 with 18" bbl in Ventura. Asking $450 It won't last.

                      PM me if interested?

                        From the link -
The freeze in Texas, which is one of ( Comment -not the largest) largest exporters of plastics and other petrochemical products, caused production of 75% of polyethylene, 62% of polypropylene, and 57% of PVC to shut, the Journal said, citing S&P Global Platts
That's a far cry from 95% of the worlds "base materials". My read is that the storm almost a year ago caused that reduction in Texas' plastic production, not world production.

You're right about that CH, I've used either my 500 in 12 or 20ga for upland brush beating, and they simply work. No frills, just work.

They took the $470 MPN 8527 930 Hunting with the synth stock off their website. They list the $797 MSRP wood furniture version still.

I get that no company wants to sell $470 shotguns, when they can make a couple of cheap tweaks and get $800, but doing that is going to piss of their customer base. They are also pushing a bunch of upspec models now.

Why spend the money to make a nice Mossberg 930, at least $1200, when I'm eyeballing the $1300 Beretta 1301. Arguably the finest expression of a self defense autoloader ever made.

Probably best for Mossberg to know their role...

Whats the msrp on Beretta 1301, not the price you can buy for?

Msrp on mossberg may be high, but im sure very few people pay full msrp price.
