You will likely need to add a cheek riser on butt stock to see through dot. Slip on butt stock riser or upgrade stock, easy fix either way.

There is a new model now called 'Enhanced Tactical' - it has all the features of the LE model, including extended mag tube and threaded for chokes. Available with or without pistol grip

It should be available at major retailers soon, for now check these

I just picked up my 1301 Tactical from the shop earlier tonight. Mine is the newest 7+1 version. I thought it was a fixed choke because that's what the Beretta site says, but it came with another choke and a choke wrench.

It's a really nice shotgun. Too bad the M-Lok section on the OEM barrel clamp isn't really usable (at least with my light mount) because it ends up hitting the QD mount below it that protrudes out a bit. Also not a fan of full-rotation QD's which the QD's on the barrel clamp are, but I'll make due.

I installed a GG&G rail section that slides over the mag tube so I can mount a light that way.

I added a Nordic Comp +2 extension for $150 so I’m in for total of $1200 compared to the newer models selling for about $1350.
I thought LE models only came in the 7+1 configuration? Don't quote me on that because it seems tha the nomenclature/description of each model/incarnation has been a bit confusing. Some said the pistol grip was the only LE model, then I've read that both 7+1 models (pistol grip or standard stock) were LE models, but now the Beretta website just calls them the "new 1301 Tactical".

So what exactly differentiates what we all previously thought of as a 1301 Tactical from the LE versions?

Either way, I don't necessarily see any massive benefit from getting the "newer" 7+1 version I got over the 5+1 Gen2. Only difference I can find is the 2+ extension and the barrel clamp, but as others have done, you can add that from Nordic for $150-$175, and it's not plastic like the OEM barrel clamp. Plus, you also get the option of getting the 5+1 versions in OD Green and FDE, where the new 7+1 versions to the best of my knowledge are only currently available in black. I would have liked the OD Green model, but they weren't available for a long time. Then a friend of mine who works at a shop let me know they got two of the new 1301 Tactical models in stock (7+1, black), so I jumped on it. While I was waiting the 10 days before I could pick it up Sportsman's Warehouse got the 5+1's Gen2's in FDE, then a day later had them in OD Green! Those didn't stay in stock very long at all.

There really is no difference between the two versions aside form capacity and price. Everything else is essentially the same. I am a bit confused about the chokes though. I was told the new 7+1 versions like mine had a fixed choke while the 5+1 versions have removable chokes. This is interesting because mine, the newest 7+1 version is choked and came with a second choke and choke wrench. The other "concern" is that if you add a 2+ extension to a 5+1 model you're no longer in compliance with 922r, while the 7+ models are. With that said, I ahve yet to hear about anyone getting into trouble for this.

Vinnie: can you mount the M-Loc rail on the right side of the gun? That would get it away from the sling.

Those full rotation swivel sockets are a PITB. However I bet that you could get one of your machinist buddies to drill that one out and tap it 9/16 18 and then screw in a Grov-Tec Limited Rotation socket which would solve that problem.

It has QD and M-Lok on both sides. I prefer the light on the left side since it's easier to operate the light that way. It doesn't seem to interfere with the sling at all.

I tried that and found it, but it forces to use app (can't get the banner off page to read the posts).

I've been able to read reddit before - so I'm not sure why it's happening now... ive never searched anything gun related though- but I don't think that has anything to do with it, or maybe it does?
