In USA? Doubtful.

Exceedingly few have a 16g frame available. IMHO, that would be a prerequisite.

Furthermore, no shotgun sports segregate out a 16g class.

These are the two major reasons it will not make a major comeback.

I have a Remington sportsman 48 and a newer tristar 16 gauge o/u love them both, also have a mec jr in 16 gauge and a crap load of hulls, I,m set for a while.

Ammo is out there always keep an eye out for it. I've gotten it as cheap as $1.50 a box for birdshot or slugs in last 5-10 years from gun shop owners tired of looking at dusty boxes that rarely sold.
