Could 16GA ever make a come back?

I certainly hope so. It has always been my favorite and I grew up hunting with one. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world...?ocid=msedgntp

I have a Savage side by side in 16 gauge. I never see ammo for it.

      In USA? Doubtful.

Exceedingly few have a 16g frame available. IMHO, that would be a prerequisite.

Furthermore, no shotgun sports segregate out a 16g class.

I seriously doubt it. It is to bad as there are some fine Shotguns in 16 ga. And I like buying cheapo 100 packs for fun.

Thing is, 20 ga has enough oomph with a bit less recoil, and there's (normally) plenty of ammo. So, nah, I'm not seeing a 16 ga comeback.

I will definitely buy up all the 16Ga ammo I find it is still my favorite to shoot. I know its a pipe dream though wishing it would somehow make a comeback. When I saw the article pop up It brought those hopes back lol

I still see it sometimes at Walmart, and I usually grab a box just in case. Even though I haven't shot my 16 gauge since the '70's.

Shotgun recoil never bothers me unless it's like goose loads or higher. I've never noticed the difference between 16 and 12 even when I wasn't old enough to drive.

The way they introduce rifle calibers every other week you’d think a reinvigoration of the 16 would be very welcome. I’d love one but with the ammo situation now…

OP-16 gauge never really fell out of favor on the eastern side of the country. I love my old Savage SxS. It’s one of my favorite trap guns. Currently looking for an A5 style auto loader. Found a case of ammo last week for only 100 bucks. I currently have everything I need except for the press to reload 16.

Word of advice if you love shooting 16- Save every hull you shoot.

They make the new Browning A-5 in a sixteen gauge.

16 gauge autoloading shotgun with humpback receiver. Gloss walnut stock, fiber-optic sight, Ergo Balanced, recoil-operated Kinematic Drive and Invector-DS interchangeable choke tubes.

I have a few buckets full of em. I was able to snag a case recently too from a friend who knew I would want them. He is always on the hunt for ammo deals.

I have one, and it's an awesome little gun. Super lightweight, and it shoulders really well for me.

While 16 GA isn't dead, there aren't many manufacturers still making guns. Browning seems to be the company with the most 16 GA offerings. They make the A5, as we've mentioned, and they also sell the Citori in 16 GA. Both guns have receivers scaled down for 16 GA.

I believe other 16 GA offerings are over/unders from Franchi and Stevens.

There are a few guns still being made, but the options aren't many.

They may say the make them, but they say they make lots of guns, but when you start searching, you find no stock any where !!!

Been looking for a Citori CXS 32" which is one of the most popular shotguns they make. NO stock at 40 different distributors!!!!

Real Vintage Sweet 16 A5's are the most expensive A5's out there. A nice one will cost you over $2,000 now, and they are always on my list of ones to buy, and I'd never shoot it, just turn around and sell it.. I know people who will buy these in a heartbeat and you can pretty much name your price. (Realistic Price that is.)

The higher grade A5's go for really big $

I was holding a beautiful older used (bun not abused) 16 gauge A5 in a gun shop in Helena Montana 2 weeks ago. It was only $500 out the door. I hate being a Californian sometimes.....
